  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

09 txc450 or 09 wr300

I can get either a new 09 txc450 or a new 09 wr300 for $3500, which would be the best bike for harescrambles and enduro. I ride the tight trails of virginia, I have a 2000 wr250 and its great in tight or wide open trials. reliability is important also I know how reliable the husky 2strokes are. I would like to know how reliable the husky 4strokes are.

A new Wr300 for $3,500.00 that's what I would do. If you don't get it let me know where it is and I'll get it to replace the 09 TXC510 I am selling. My 09 TXC 510 has been trouble free but it's to much bike for me.

Both work really well (both performance and reliability). Personally I prefer the two stroke (and I'm also riding tight, rocky stuff in VA). Its lighter and simpler. The four stroke makes a bit more power, has a wider power curve and hooks up more easily.

I have a TE and a WR. I love the WR way more than the TE. The big Husky thumper motors aren't near the woods machines that the WR's are, plain and simple.

The four strokes just won't chug down like the two strokes in the tight, the juice clutch always acts up when you get in the nasties and need it most. That's also when they want to cough and die then throw you on the ground. And that's when you feel every once of it's lard top heavy butt.

The TXC might be better than the TE in the woods, but it can't be that much better.

At that price I'd just about buy a 300 to go with my 250. I love these WR's.

BTW- These guys are doing the "TWO STROKE".

I love my 09TE450 I "can" race(have fun) it in enduros and have successfully completed a tight one without problems from the bike- even though I am not a "racer". BUT everyone who "races" uses a 200-300 2stroke or a 250f around these parts D16... I would have been more competative on a smaller bike- I really don't need that power- there.

So If I was going to do more than one race a year and cared about being competative- I'd be on a 2stroke of the 300 flavor.

Get the Wr300- and WOW what a deal!!!

Maybe I was a little rough on the TE. It's a "FUN" bike. I enjoy playing around on it because it's go the plate and I can go exploring on it. It's not too bad if the trail is easy and flows at a fast pace, and I'm not in a hurry to get anywhere.

A TXC450 is probable WAY better than a TE510 in the woods, but I don't think it can touch a WR300. Unless you're Scott Summers or David Knight, be warned.

The 300 is an ok machine but quite dated. I would look at a KTM or Gas Gas 2T's with the electric leg. Untill Husky updates the WR 250/300 it is probably 3 years behind the other two in many aspects. The 450's are good bikes they hook up well have reasonable torque and a stunning mid. Both models are dated imho and the new 2011's will probably show much (fingers crossed). In terms of reliability they are both bullet proof, they handle well and suspension is good rather than great. Brakes and ergs are brilliant imho.

From my perspective e-start is a waste on two strokes. They start so easily with the kicker I just wouldn't want to deal with the extra complexity, weight and cost of estart. I would like to see a newer design for weight savings, but that'd be it.

im with you e-start dont have that many advantages on a 2stroke, but I wouldnt have a 4stroke without it. and who cares about ktm or gasgas, husky is a way better machine in my eyes.
