  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

09 te510, leave stock pipe or put 08 te450 Arrow pipe?

borka

Husqvarna
I just picked up a new (to me) 2009 TE510.

I have a Arrow pipe from an 08 TE450, its probably the same pipe for an 08 TE510...?

So, which pipe is better? leave the stock 09 TE510 pipe or put on the 08 TE450 Arrow pipe?

If it fits, Any benefits to the Arrow pipe over stock? quieter? better flow? direct fit?

Appreciate the advise.

The Arrow is a performance can it will be louder
that is the one I would run but I dont thint
the 08 will fit the 09 or 10 you might want to check.

The '08 Arrow p/u can sounds SO MUCH better then a stock '10 can. I do not recall the sound of an '09 exhaust. Fitment is supposed to be different for the '08's but have read otherwise.

Slip it on and see if it fits for you. I think the p/u Arrow pipe will be the best sounding can you will find for your Husky.

Yeah, thats why i wanted the 08 can, i rode the 08 450 with the arrow can, and the sound is much cleaner, much less droning, its not that loud cruising, with very clean brappp brappp when you get on it.
The 09 can, the sound is droning, not clean at all.

The cans look identical except, the tips are different, so i was thinking that the 09 models just come standard with the 08 powerup can, but with a different tip.

so i took the 09 can off, and put it next to the 08 can and the pipe is different, the 09 can the piping is 1.5" longer, so i will need to swap mid pipe as well from the 08. as those also look different with the 09 being shorter and 08 being longer.

lets hope the headers are the same, or i will need to swap that over too, so basically i might have to swap full exhausts between the 08 450 and the 09 510.

ill try to get some time tomorrow evening to play around with this.

fitted the 08 PU arrow pipe on the 09 TE510, i had to use the mid pipe from the 08 as well, as both the mid pipe and mufflers are different.
The 08 having longer mid pipe and shorter muffler piping and the 09 TE510 having shorter mid pipe and longer muffler piping.
The headers are the same.

will test the sound tomorrow, when riding my TE450 with the arrow i liked the sound better than the stock pipe on the 09 TE510 with the cat removed.

Also saved some weight :)

08 Power Up Arrow pipe: 5lbs 5oz
09 TE510 pipe: 6lbs 12oz
Stock 08 TE450 pipe: 10lbs 13oz!!!

here is a comparison of the 3 pipes:

Also put on a 3gal IMS tank, I've read that it doesnt fit with the motosportz steering damper, but mine fit just fine.

Lucky you... it took me three one hour long sessions with the heat gun and a new damper collar to get mine to fit...
