  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

09 TE 450 Electric start stopped working

Fishslayer

Husqvarna
B Class
Hi all, wondering if you can help. My electric start just stopped working last ride. The bike will still kick start but I miss the magic button!
I don't have a workshop manual so wondering if there are any obvious places to check eg a fuse somewhere?
Cheers

How many miles on the bike?
Does it click or grind or do nothing?
Check all the fuses under the seat.
Check all battery and ground connections.
Also, check the battery voltage, it should be 12.8v standing, and it should not drop below 10v when you press the starter button.

Thanks for reply OHR. It's a 2009 bike but has only done 2000km! I've managed to put 1500km on since I bought it 14 months ago
Does nothing at all when I press starter button seems like an electrical problem. Will check fuses and battery charge on weekend. Is there a specific fuse for the starter?
Cheers

My 09TE 250 did the same. It was dirty contacts on the start button. If you are careful, u can get the switch apart, clean the contacts, and get it back together again. Then I had slow crank problem later that turned out to be a dirty connection on the starter solenoid. Clean and coat connections/contacts with dielectric grease.

Problem sorted- it was the connection to the safety switch on the clutch lever. Gotta love a quick DIY fix!
I was gunna suggest that but you beat me to it. It seems to happen when tie downs contact it during transport. There is a way to bypass it if you want to.
