    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Last night the (until recently) trusty husky started doing very strange things. on steady throttle the red over rev warning light would quickly blink. i noticed it happen a couple times. shortly after the neutral light blinked at me. the bike then shut off for a split second, completely off, headlights and all. i was able to pull it over and it seemed to subside. i checked over everything roughly. no loose wires, blown fuses, or anything obviously out of place. i fired it back up and rode for 5 mins and it went haywire. all of the indicator and warning lights were flashing at random, like a light show through my shield. the bike was also intermittently dieing as before, but it would come right back to running for about 20 seconds. at that point i shut it down and pushed. lucky for me it happened up the street from my shop.
a quick back story, the bike has 7100miles on it. its got a couple usual mods, LV slip on, airbox delete, power commander 5 with autotune and lcd screen. up until now it hasnt skipped a beat, aside from bouncing off limiter on the occasion. im more than a little concerned about being stranded from a fuel injection issue. ive heard rumors that the flashing is some sort of code? ive not seen anything definitive. has anyone had any issue with the kill/start combo switch?
the shutting off like it was make me think faulty switch, thats where im diving now.
any thoughts, input or directions to go would be great!

update, just inspected the combo switch. appears good. dry, no corrosion and smooth contact. hmmm:thinking:
 
well, i checked the battery and went over a couple more things. i unplugged the ignition switch from the harness and found some corrosion in the plug. not much but some green and blue stuff on the pins. also tried to start it today and the battery icon lit up then the neutral light started flashing then stopped. immediately after the flashing stopped, the fuel pump primed like normal so i tried again to start it up. when i hit the start button i heard a strong click of the starter solenoid and nothing. the bike shut off like it did on the road, lights and all. major buzz kill!
 
What do mean "checked the battery"? Did you load test it.. sounds like battery or main power switch, or main switch fuse on left side.
