• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

09 610 engine noise

Ok, so ive got just over 12000mi. on my sm610. its been maintained, adjusted and serviced when called for. i noticed a different sound from the engine the other day. The noise isnt very noticable at cruise or when under load. It sounded to me like a knock up top when the bike first fires up and the last couple rotations as i killed it. I was hoping that the cam chain was out of spec or something was obviously wrong. But the acct was only out 7 or 8 clicks. it looked fine. im not an expert, by any means. i have done a bit of searching on my end. i found a common problem with these bikes is the rockers get a bit of play laterally. now, i do have prolly .015 of side to side play in the exhaust side rockers. i have also noticed a little scoring on the exhaust side cam lobe and the rocker roller. should i shim out the play in the rocker? i have included pics(from my phone sorry) of my cam chain slider acct side. is it normal to have this kind of wear? without measuring it, it appears to be close to .060 deep. ive not had this bike this far apart before, and i didnt tear my 06 this far to do the camchain and related stuff. ive given the piston, connecting rod, and everything i could, a good shake around and it feels tight. any thoughts would be appreciated.

Sorry I haven't taken my bike apart that far.
Did you find out whether it was within tolerance?
