  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Well, it's about time that I give the old bike a total makeover and face lift. Something new with a little retro style tribute, to one of my favorite bikes (1982 CR500). These graphics are light silver faded into black, red logo and numbers. Been working on these for a while and don't have the revised ones back, that has front number plate, fender and fork covers, faded to black yet (like the rest). I also requested WR250 on the side plates in same red.

I have a full set of white and also black plastics to hold them up to once I receive them for final fitment/plastic color choice.

With all the extra polishing that I am doing, new frame color and etc...... I think it will look sharp.

A lot nicer than mine already!

No doubt. Darin making me look bad again! :)

My WR looks like its been to hell and back.
Graphics gone, swingarm dented, steel braided brake line frayed, side panels cracked, shrouds flapping in the wind and a little nub of the fender brace is barely visible, but she still goes like hell!
I actually have new side panels and fenders, but I'm pretty partial to those old tattered ones and I'd have to start the process all over again if I change em now.
I peeled the graphics off my 125 right from the get-go cause I like the look. That, and the fact they were already peeling off straight from the crate helped my decision too!

Nice stuff Darin. I think it'll look killer!

Thanx guys!

Brandon, you get back this way and you can borrow one of our bikes and we will take you riding.

And if you guys ever want to ride in Ontario, Canada you can borrow one of my WR250's (have two).. I will get a posse together and we will take you to the Ganaraska Forest..

And if you are into racing you can enjoy the experience of riding "The Bridges of Mansfield" while racing the Mansfield Cross Country (late May) which is held at Lance Mathews Farm (Lance Mathews is aka "steadydirt")..

And if you can't make it until mid October and want to race a Enduro the Terra Nova Enduro also makes a run through Lance's property..

Really like that video/terrain. Looks like someone was picking a few riders off.

Sounds good if my travels get up that way! Well, gotta be envy of Lances's property to have a playground like that in his backyard!

Doing it again; Ding Ding! Round #2 May 27, 2012!

Thought I'd show you some update pics. Been very slow going since I messed my back up.

Got the fork tubes polished. Engine covers touched up and frame in gloss black enamel/ spring in red. I also welded brackets on lower frame so skid plate can be held on with speed nuts.

Polishing Parts List:

Engine Covers, Head, Kick Starter, Water Pump, Triple Clamps, Swing Arm, Rear Sub Frame and Brushed Polished Hubs.

I held the graphics up and I think it will look sharp!

Really nice Darin! When you said you polished the forks awhile back, I didn't quite realize the effect. till I see the pictures.
Oh, and your shop looks really comfortable.
Can't wait to see the graphics.
