• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

08 TC 510 linkage & shock bearing re-greasing...

demi

Husqvarna
AA Class
I was greasing the linkage on my new 510(for the open class itch) and the lower shock bearing was completely DRY**************************************** Not one bit of grease...so if you haven't done it and have ridden, you may be in for "treat"...the other 3 linkage points had plenty of grease. Didn't get to the top shock bearing. I had a problem with re-assembly and managed to strip the nut on the lower shock bearing, this was not cross threaded and done with a torque wrench...39.6 ft/lbs. Luckily I had another bolt/nut. I got it together, but it felt like it was doing the same thing....? Did the same thing on my 06...all the other bolts torqued perfectly...are these bolts prone to this? Anybody else have this issue?

Yep, on my 05 i have found 6 or more stripped bolts. All kind of stuff, kick stand, front disk, oil inspection. I wasnt sure if it was the previous owner, but i have seen it on my mates 07 as well and he bought it new.

I bought an 08 TE450 a few weeks ago, second hand, the bottom shock linkage is kinda loose - the seller showed me and said he reckons it needed a new bush...i will grease it for now and see how it goes.

The husky torque specs all seem to be a bit on the high side. I think I only go to 35 pounds on that one and I have had it on and off several times. I use loc-tite and check them after the first ride though.

On my WR the lower shock and swingarm bearings are the ones to keep an eye on. The zirks get the rest.
