  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

07 TE450 Oil level

Morning all.
Starting to prep my new bike for service.

I changed my oil this weekend. Opened all three drain plugs and let drain for a few hours while I did a few things around the house. Cleaned the metal filters (had the little orange specs everyone talks about...left overs of the KTM it ate with last owner.) and installed a new K&N oil filter. Put in 1700ml of oil. When I opened the little "check oil screw" it dribbled out about 2oz of oil...is that because as it cools the all the oil settles back to the bottom of the case.

Those of you that have the 7602 sight glass...........is that pretty accurate? Or should I just dump the recommended 1.8qt/1700ml of oil in and go ride??? The engine does not burn or leak oil and will get changed every 2 rides.

Thanks for reading.

Just put in the 1700mls and go ride. I stoped opening the screw after reading the stories of the thread crossing etc. No issues in the past 2 years

+1,
thought long and hard about the cover with the sight glass, then dropped it on the other side and smashed that cover.

Audible,

Measuring out 1700ml of oil is a much better way to know the level than using that stupid check bolt. The only downside to measuring out 1700ml is that you are never able to drain 100% of the old oil, so just adding 1700ml will result in slightly overfilling with oil. Not a big deal to most, but to some it is. The other advantage of our cover is that if a bike uses oil you can check how much it is using by taking a quick look at the window.

For those who don't know, I am the owner of 7602 Racing. I designed and built these clutch covers. I just wanted to give full disclosure here. I am pointing out the advantages of our cover and am not giving a review from a customers point of view.
