  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Well, after snapping the frame tab again for the chamber the old girl sat for some time. Even being replaced as my race bike by a Beta 200! So I got tired of watching her sit and decided it's time to give my old trusty race steed some love. First order of business- get her stripped down to ready for welding repair. As soon as I can get together with my buddy and his welder, it will start going back together. So far it's gotten a new TMD chain guide, new chain, fresh pegs (well not as thrashed - came off my 449) complete carb rebuild with all the parts taking a few rides in the ultrasonic cleaner. I'll try to keep posting as it gets closer to starting again. Here's some pics of the first steps. Thanks for tagging along.PXL_20240413_003055737.jpg PXL_20240412_234257709.jpg

Update! Some life stuff has been at the forefront, but today was the day it all came together! Got the bike over to my friend's house ( he rides an 06 TC510 BTW) to weld the tab back on and even threw some primer and paint on it. Got the pipe mounts sorted (though I will add some others I recently purchased at some point for aesthetics).

Put the cleaned up and ready carb on, fresh oiled and new air filter and mixed up some gas. Slight hiccup with a petcock leak but a fresh O ring settled that quickly. Fired second kick and ran pretty darn good so put the rest of the plastic on and took it for a quick putt down the street. Looks like she's back!! And she's staying at my buddies house for a while so he can enjoy it. He's never had a two stroke modern bike so I'm excited to see what he thinks. Enjoy the pics!PXL_20240825_191029543.jpg PXL_20240825_191029543.jpg PXL_20240825_191102476.jpg
