• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

06 TE610 Spring Rates

What are the stock spring rates for an 06 TE610?

I am 185lbs (no gear, 4 gal tank on the TE) and I am thing the stock springs are too stiff for me. Any idea where I can find the correct spring rates for my weight?

Thanks,

Singletrak

According to my parts diagram, the front is 4.8 N/mm and the rear is 6.4 kg/mm (no idea why the mixed units in the manual).

I am 175 (no gear) and I also think they are a little bit on the stiff side. I run a zip tie on the front and I never use all the travel; don't run a zip on the rear, but it seems stiff too.

Problem for me is that I also use my 610 as a supermoto and road race bike, so I am not sure I want to go softer on the springs.

Its not the spring rates at all...its the valving.

Get them done and it makes the biggest difference you will ever do to your bike.

I spent $700 on my suspension and its incredible...Springs, machining, valving, shimms, oil weight and oil heights. Front and back all included.

Best money I ever spent on a bike.

+1 Stu is right! I had mine done and it makes a huge differance!

+2 My suspension was redone and it made a world of difference. The Bike still has the stock rear spring, but it's not stiff anymore.

My 08 610 was fine on the road, but off road it was way too stiff. Now it feels like a dirt bike off road.

'Gotta get that suspension work done. LTR did mine and the ride is plush but very difficult to bottom. In fact, I've bottomed only once, when crossing two very deep and steep washouts which were side by side across a trail when running too fast. I was expecting to go over the bars but all I heard was a lightk knock when the forks hit bottom, and I kept right on riding. LTR is good!

Les knows his stuff. He has done three bikes for me.
