  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

250-500cc 04 ? wr360 powervalve linkage and adjustment

have use of an 04 ? has shivers on the front. wr360 atm . it doesnt sound or feel like the powervale is opening up much or at all . has awesome grunt and isnt slow but its like a tt500 with its power . i own and ride a 02 gasgas ec300 and you know about it when that gets on the powervalve because it gets louder and takes off again . i assume the wr360 would be similar ? make more noicese and go faster ?

pulled the cover off the linkages and the ball joint at the top of the plastic rod has been rubbing on the cover . like rubed the paint off and its clean metal .

the valve rotates quite smoothly . feels like it has oil in it but not sticky . if i lift it up it will fall down again as though it has oil in the valves etc

also looking up the exhaust port when the rod is connected the valve is about 3 mm up from its bottom most position . should i adjust it so that bottom resting position of the actuator rod matches bottom resting position of the valve . the stops are correct and it doesnt hit the piston etc .

what to do about the cover ? bend the arm in a mm fit a gasket under the whole cover ?

cheers team . do wh have a link to a manual ?

with the cover off run the engine and rev the bike it should move with a blip of throttle, the pv set up is finikitey but i have never noticed a powerband so to say the 360 is a big hitter everywhere but doesn't feel like somethings suddenly opend when you open her up.

Pictures say a thousand words so post some up.

maybe later years are different...but i would say if there isnt a surge at the upper third of the powerband, where the intake and exhaust are much louder, i would venture to say your powervalve is misadjusted or just inoperative...mine has a pretty distinct feel when the powervalve opens. it didnt when i bought, as the p.o. had the valve adjusted to never open. my setscrews are set per book, never tried adjusting after that.

Agree with all, they are prick to adjust with the motor in the cradle but it's almost a set an forget...IMO its a crap, fiddly and complex design to work on compared to the 250 or any modern 2T PV system....on but it works.

boy, when that valve is open and hooking up with those tall gears! it really is a fiddly system, but peoples heads snap around when it opens up..after listening to it grunt around it looks to run great and have awesome torque, only to realize theres more in there!

oh i only said 04 because someone else on the net said that the 04 was the last of them with the shivers on them . doesnt really matter what year is . not gunna argue . yeah got it all working like it should . seems to open quite early . nothing like videos i see but they are all smaller bore bikes. . needa get a tach on it . manual calls for 6k rpm opening .

the bike is pretty quite . at idle if you open and close the valve manually you can hear it change from dung dung dung to ting ting ting . but it doesnt get any louder really . on my gasgas when the power valve opens i actually thought the muffler had fallen off the first time i heard it .
