  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

04 TC250 Rolling Chassis ideas?

Just picked up an 04' TC250 Rolling chassis....any ideas on where to pick up an engine...

What fits?

Better to part it out?

any ideas?

Check classifieds--just last week someone was parting an '08 TXC 250. He had a complete engine with electrics minus the piston and cylinder for $450. I was thinking about picking it up as a spare, but decided not to.

FYI, I have a stock cylinder and piston in good shape that I took off my TE 250 when I upgraded to the Athena kit. If you decide to go with that TXC engine, I'm sure I could get you hooked up for a good price.

well he just called me and still has the engine....it dropped a valve....wonder what its gonna need....would your cylinder and such work with that engine....

Ah--can't help you with the head. But my cylinder and piston would fit that bottom end perfectly.

In terms of motors that will fit your chassis, any of the Husky 4-strokes from 2004-2007 will fit, and then any of the carbed 2008-2009s will fit. You could probably get a FI '08-'09 to work if you could get the wiring harness, too.

I'm sure you could make just about anything fit, but I seriously doubt any other motor will drop in without requiring welding and machine to make the swingarm fit the engine cases.

If you wanna build up a really wild street/dual sport/super moto sorta thing the new kawasaki 650cc parallel twin is ultra compact for a twin and folks have wedged them into thumper frames without too much difficulty before.
