Are any of the older kick starters with an outwards bend, compatible with my 86'?
I would like to not have to kick the thing with my toe pointing inwards.

not sure what you mean with your toe pointing inward
I kick with my boot any position I want
the 86 and 87 kick angles are the same
is your kicker still good, is it at a 90 degree angle the engine???

When I say toe-in, I'm standing on the left side with my toe pointed toward my body. If I kick with my arch
my foot interferes with them peg. If I kick with my toe, I need to take care that it doesn't slip. The kicker is stock, and doesn't swing out more than 90 deg.
I saw a picture of a 430 A.C. that has this bend. I would like to just romp on that thing.

Yeap, so true, and it's worst with mud on your boot bottom. The earlier 81-83 kicker will fit because the spline is the
same, but there smaller in diameter, so it's really NO better. I have a 82 430CR & 85 250XC, so I have both styles
of kickers, but i don't think ones better then the other.

You could try kicking the bike with your Left leg, standing backwards from how your doing it now. I know it looks & sounds
weird/dumb, but it's was how i had to start my 76 360CR, cause the 70's kickers where even worst, too short & your foot got knocked off by peg too. Granted it would be a real pain to do in the woods, & i only had to kick mine on the Starting line
    thank GOD in motocross.

I think training the left leg may be the answer. I am as right-legged, as I am right- handed.
