Thanks! I would love to try a 165 and compare it to my 200. Dying to try a new 310 too.

I was thinking about trying to go to this event this year after seeing the pictures and reading the posts from last years event. Do I need any riding permits to participate, and if so how do I acquire them?(I'm in the great white north). Thanks:cheers:

You should. Will need a ORV sticker which Bills has or many other places. EZ, get your butt down here.

You should come! It's a good time!

Yes, even if your bike is plated, you'll need a current Oregon, Washington, or Idaho ATV sticker on your bike. If you don't have one from one of those states, Bill and Bryon will have them at camp for folks that need a last-minute sticker. It's not something you want to gamble on getting by without, last year the sheriff came through one morning and scrutinized every bike in camp. The cost for an Oregon tag is $10.50 (I think - maybe $10 even), and it's a good thing because the fees from this actually go back into the Forest Service not a general fund.

It's extra good as the permit is a 2 year deal! Missed the last one but will be out there this year if you guys come up. Need any help? Lemme know!

Yep $10 and the seller is allowed to tack on .50 for handling. Bills or most bike shops in Oregon and some others (sporting goods stores mostly) can sell you one.

Many states have reciprocity, so you may not need to buy an Oregon one.

And....long time no see, welcome back Wachs.

I know that my Oregon sticker is good in Idaho and Washington, I *assumed* in my above post that the reverse is true as well.

Lets quit beating around the sagebrush and pick a date! The last competition event in the China Hat area this year is the Fall Classic on October 19-20. First snowfall has not yet been scheduled !! I preferred the light snow to dust myself. Mouse McCoy I am not.

My vote would be Thursday October 10th through Sunday October 13th.

Reason being: a whole lot of TR650s were sold since the last event, and it might be possible some of them might want to ride there on those TR650s. Myself included (not 100% sure yet though).

I'm not really in the mood to chance inclement weather on the ride to that location.

That's not what the Oregon OHV site says. A plated California bike is good for OHV and street use in Oregon. No sticker required.

If a plate is all that your state requires, then that should be true. However i have seen people spend a long time presenting that argument to an officer.....$10 is cheap insurance and the money goes to maintain and grow OHV trails. Some is granted directly to clubs for projects.

Would you rather spend an hour arguing ORS on the trail or spend ten bucks and just smile and nod as the guy walks by your bike?
