I am doing a rebuild minor restoration, only cause I'm gonna ride it. Are the 73 250CRs that crappy that no one messes with them? Or are they a bike that is just not that popular? This was my father in laws bike and he said this thing hauled ass and was a good bike. Anyone have an Opinion? Am I wasting my time?

If your going to get a old bike running, to ride it, it's NEVER a waste of time... Have fun & put a smile back on your Father in laws face when he rides it again :D ...nothing in the world will beat that :applause:

You need to understand most new riders that have just discovered Husqvarna have no idea how long they have been around. Most modern shops with low history know no better either, This is where you will find the best resources on vintage Husqvarna because we rode them when they were modern and still have reverence for them now

To me there isn't many early 70's husky bikes to be seen let alone bought. No 60's at all. Out of 25 husqvarnas I had one '72/250wr. I sold that one to a shop in AZ.

The 1973 250CR was a very competitive bike. It came overshadowed when the 250 Elsinore hit the 250 class I almost bought a 1972 250CR from a friend of my father's but could not raise the money. I ended up with a 4 speed 250 that turned out to be a 360. That was a problem in the respect that I was 14 when I got it and to ride the open class you had to be at least 16.

Great history on the development of each stage of the bikes...

Interesting history of the 72,73,pre-Mag 74 "big engine" Huskys!

Just wanted to say thanks for all who replied! My profile pic is the Bike i am Re Doing. I do have some early pics. So am I to guess that the early Huskys are getting hardder to find? Like the 250CR? I get it, its not gonna be a 5 figure bike lol but just by reading all that you guys have posted it seems like this is a bike I should maybe hold on to. I can pass it on to my son. BTW my father in law say how far I have come and he just kind of sat there a moment not saying anything just had a small smile on his face to see the old girl coming alive again! I just put the Tank on it to see how it would look. I have a new seat for it and I am going to have the tank re painted as well.

I have a 73 CR250 because my uncle and my father both had 73s when I was kid. Mine is almost all 100% original now. The motor is completely rebuilt and runs great with the original Bing carb, and I found an original pipe for it. Now its just coming down to some cosmetic stuff. I'm going to rebuild my wheels, have the frame sandblasted and repainted to the correct color and have John LeFevre from Vintage Husky restore my tank.

That looks great but the fuel tank is from a 1974 or even later I am sure the 73 250CR had a round tank ,not the MX tank that I am sure first appeared on the 74 250 MAG
