Hi all just wondering with the Australian Summer soon to arrive, what light weight safety gear do /did you wear in the warmer months. I have the 630 TE and ride the forest trails, rocks, branches, mud, dirty etc (still a noob). At the moment I have the Forma Adventure boot and a BMW Jacket and trousers which offer good protection but with Summer are going to be way hot. I was thinking a lighter weight enduro trouser, knee guards (possible built in) body armour but which one, there's so much on Ebay and some looks dicey. And then a top, shirt to cover the top that offers abrasion protection. As I mentioned I am no MXer nor Enduro rider, I chug along but I'm getting more confident and want the correct protection. Any recommendations, thanks for your help
I put on one of these when on trails: http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com/2/6/10/23113/ITEM/Fox-Racing-Titan-Sport-Jacket.aspx Don't need a shirt over it, really. I wear a tee shirt or running shirt under it. On the road to the trails, I have it strapped on the tail of the bike with everything else. I wear a standard touring jacket for the highway miles.
I wear a mesh jacket, DS helmet, Fox Bomber gloves, MX pants with knee/shin guards underneath. I also have a Six Six One compression suit, but I rarely wear it. The mesh jacket is more convenient and has pockets.
I only ride urban so far... I have a leather jacket with armor (It says suzuki racing on it so I guess I have to get a new jacket ) full face street helmet some old school sidi road boots that are probably equivalent to the cobra mx gloves and some fox mx knee/shin guards Thinking about getting something like the tourmaster centurion for winter
In the bush an Alpinestar or 661 mesh armour is good with a Tee Shirt. Wear MX trousers with separate knee guards and mx gloves-good to go.
6-6-1 pressure suit under first gen Kilimanjaro jacket, Thor Ride over-boot pants, Moose knee guards, Alpinestars boots....for years. Recently replaced the old Alpinestars with Fox 5 boots, replaced the Kili with a First Gear Kathmandu - a Thor pressure suit to replace the 6-6-1 (for a shorter back protector). I need the jacket pockets for stuff....so in warm weather and long rides in places like Baja, Moab, Death Valley, Big Bend - I picked up an Ogio flight vest to carry stuff and wear over the Thor pressure suit. I use a Klim daypack with hydration bladder with the jacket - the Ogio has one built in
I just got the Klim Traverse Jacket and pants for Dualsport riding. I got the armour for them. They are light weight, great in the rain and they have venting. For more had core stuff, I wear a six six one pressure suit, pants with hip and knee armour and sidi crossfire boots. http://www.klimcanada.com/store/index.html#id=dirt-outerwear&num=3
Thor ATV Boots, Skeletools padded riding shorts, 661 knee guards, Fly Racing helmet, moto pants & an EVS BJ02 ballistic jersey that's mesh, has plenty of body armor and built in kidney belt. Just wish it had more rib protection. But ya can't have it all. The jersey has been thoroughly tested and worked exceptionally well, except for one small rib injury. But landing on a boulder can do that.
from - http://www.rockgardn.com/items/body-armor/flak-jacket-flak-jacket-detail.htm?1=1&menu=1 "The new Rockgardn Flak Jacket is our most revolutionary design yet, and it's all about options and a tailored fit. The design breaks down the Flak Jacket into two distinct component parts, the Flak Vest and Flak Base."
Depends on the occasion, sometimes it's a Colt 45 in a shoulder holster other times it's a Trojan Magnum XL.
Summer is over here in New Mexico, but in the hot weather: Velocity Gear Jugggernaut Pressure Suit. For longer DS rides, a Kilimanjaro Air jacket on top + liner for weather and cargo capacity Klim Mojave Pants. I took the armor out of the knees and doubled it up in the hips. I'll add some padded shorts for the really rocky stuff. Sidi Adventure Rain boots + Thor MX knee/shin guards
Don't forget your feet...these are a favorite, no matter the time of year... Gaerne Balance Oiled Dual Sport Boots easy to ride with, easy to walk about...and water-proof if you use the Gaerne Boot Paste
