• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Weighed My Te630

7 lbs for each can? I can see that. I hacked this off of my bike when installing the FMF pipe, and it sure felt a lot heavier than 7 lbs. Closer to 15-20 lbs.

Sorry, yes 7lbs per can. That means the stock cans weigh 14 pounds, so in order for a pair of slipons to save 10 lbs each can would only be 2...

Check out www.leovince.com/ They give the weight for stock mufflers @ 8lb each and LV Ti @ 2lb each. That means a pair of LV Ti mufflers will save 12lbs and the single Ti full system saves 17 lbs. Don't know what the twin LV Ti cost but Husky sells a pair of sexy arrows that include a matching ECU for around $1K.

Should be weight differences in the heads too, the SOHC having a little less than the DOHC, although I'm just guessing

None of these numbers people are tossing out make sense, I'm just trying to clarify. The LV site shows the stock cans at a Total of 7.23 kg (15.94 pounds), the enduro sport slipons total 5.63 with the needed fasteners (12.4 pounds). They do not sell Titanium slipons as far as I can see, you have to chose either the Enduro or Enduro Sport slipons. You have the choice of saving just under 4 pounds by going to the slipons or saving over 17.5 pounds with the whole system. You simply can't save much weight by sticking with dual pipes.

Agreed --- the slipons don't save much weight (I have them).

I also don't see how a muffler that weighs about 6 pounds, plus a short piece of pipe, totals 17.5 pounds when removed from the bike. A Ti header weighs but a few ounces less than a steel one. I believe the ~3.8 or so pound savings for the slipons, but I am skeptical of the 17.5 claim for the Ti system.

I'll have my bike on a stand over the weekend doing various things. I'm going to weigh what came off (stock pipes and heat shields) and what went on (Leo's..) and report back.

Would love to see somebody do the same with the Ti system.

The 17lb claim is for a single Ti muffler, clamps and tubing.
Deleted right 8 lb muffler + crossover pipe + clamp probably weighs 9-10 lbs.
Left 8lb muffler, clamps and SS header replaced with a 2lb Ti muffler, thin wall Ti header and carbon fibre strap accounts for the rest.
Assuming of course the muffler weights given on LV web site are correct. It's on the internet so it must be true. Right!

I weighed the stockers + heat shields against the Leos + heat shields + mounting strap.

Leo slipon setup weighs 6lbs 1oz less.

More than they're claiming on the website (of 3.8lbs). I think the website claim doesn't take into account the thick steel heat shields that come on the bike. Now that I look at them, I'm skeptical that the Leo setup will withstand too many falls...

Guess you'll just have to try and keep it tires-down...
Well, it is an enduro bike and I will be entering some timed events. Last time I took my 610 out on single track I dropped it 3-4 times. Falls are kinda inevitable -- if you don't go down once in a while, you're not really trying. ;)
