Vintage BAJA 1000 2017

this version of Baja seems more like a party around a race than a race with party to follow
kinda like using riding as the excuse to go

Still racing in Mexico on "open" trails and roads.....

just need to be extra careful to not spill your margaritas on the "open" roads

I saw just the best Baja vehicle the other day, a new german tank with precision gun control. they were doing 60 up a road with a large stein of beer balanced on the end of the barrel...Ideal! clear the pesky mexican drug runners out the way, the impromptu road blocks? no problems and not spill a drop!

Andy, can you fill in any details on the 510 RR project, earlier you mentioned later cases and oiling problems...anything yuou can share would be appreciated, thanks, Bodger

You can run a 12v electric oil pump and an oil cooler. With all the modern efficient HID & LED lighting, you no longer need 200watts for lighting so there will be plenty of reserve power for an electric pump. Or you could do it by driving it off the countershaft. There's photos on here of that set up. Think it was Uptite mod.

After seeing the dog on the tank, it reminds me of the first time I went for a ride with my mate Mike, back in about 1989.

I had my 86 WR400 Husky and he was riding his Yamaha IT 490.

He said no problems we can go for a ride but I need to go and pick up my bull terrier Sniff from out in the pines.

He had taken her out a couple of days previously but she ran off chasing kangaroos.

She was deaf so no good yelling at her to come back.

I remember thinking well good luck finding the dog.

So we ride out of Mt Gambier, out into the pines near the South Australian/Victorian border and after a while what do you

know there she is waiting for us.

So he puts her up on the tank and off he goes like a rocket, I was barely able to keep up.

And Sniff kept looking back at me, I swear the look on its face it was saying what's the problem mate,

can't you keep up?

We went to investigate one of the most haunted places on earth. I brought our dog. The second we arrived the dog ran off. Hours later we went to leave. Never seen the dog at all. There are no birds, no sounds, no animal tracks in this place. As we arrived at the car the dog shows up out of breath.

There's a guy in the video on any Sunday with a dog on a rug on the tank. It was the Baja race.
