• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

SWM RUMOUR SPY MILL 2018...

While the specs for Euro4 are onerous the ways manufacturers use to comply are interesting. The 20Kw power restriction requires some seriously ridiculous maps to be written for ECUs. How would you like to buy a RS500 and enjoy a 6500 RPM rev limit?

As far as 2 strokes and their future, as they say where I come from... Ya gotta make Hay while the Sun shines.

if they invest their money in a 2stroke efi like ktms tpi it might work out...

May be. But rumors has it that beyond 2020, with Euro 5 regulations a two strokes bike, even with tpi will not pass enviromental regulations.

So an invest for only 2-3 years may be is not a good invest...

Anyway we will see if other motorcycle brands (Beta, Sherco, GasGas... ) invest the money in renewing their motors. If they have not make it so far, for me make sense SWM neither...

The '13 310's were choked above 5k it seemed like and stalled at 1500rpm if hadn't stalled while slowing. So many baffles and restrictions. Started and idled OK. :-/ I plan to add a bike this year but I don't see much reason to sell a good plated Husky looking forward. Once sorted the bikes are great. Curious how locked up all (500s, 300s) will be, ECU wise, to get them running well. Time will tell. Assume all will be imported CA style.

Let us not get to depressed just yet!

I wonder if these restrictions will apply to off road race bikes or do they just apply to road going variants??? Out this side of the Pacific it's only ever enduro & trail bikes that come complied & restricted (ie. strangled & starved)!! They strangle the four strokes as much as the two strokes.

You never see a dedicated motocross bike restricted........ever.
I might also ad that I very much doubt that even an unrestricted 4 stroke motocross bike is going to meet emissions standards!!!
So there might be hope for us yet! :applause:

Let us hope so
