• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Sprocket and Chain Recommendations - TE610

Got a pretty well stretched chain and worn sprockets after about 6K miles. Currently running 15 - 45 which seems fine overall, but wondering if dropping to 14 - 45 would make a noticeable difference when slogging off road. I'm kind of a toad so looking for slightly better low end without an adverse affect on the top end. Can anyone say whether one could tell the difference?

Also, any recommendations for sprocket and chain sources?

Thanks!

I dropped to 14T up front and noticeable improvement off road. Didn't lose much on top but again not using this bike as an adventurer tourer. I went with an AFM sprocket in the back and a D.I.D X-Ring chain. The chain is pricey but definitely notice reduced rolling resistance.

I run 14/47 and find it a great combo. The Supersprox sprockets are great and as said DID X ring (VMX or similar) is the way to go. Do not economise on this area, ever!

Great resource for info on ratios and is Gearing Commander website - it also tells you if your proposed ratio is a possible wear negative which many do not realise.

Finally got around to replacing the chain and sprockets. Went with a 14 tooth Ironman front and 45 tooth Sunstar rear with DID VX2 X ring chain. Nice improvement on the lower end, feels good on the upper end too. Probably dropped about 4 or 5 miles per hour, from about 70 to 65 at about 5000 rpm. Made cruising in 6th at 55 - 60 more comfortable, doesn't feel like it is lugging. I used the standard length chain, think it is 114 links. With the smaller sprocket in the front, adjustment in the future may be a bit marginal as it is already pretty far back.

If any of you guys have a relatively new OEM 42 take off rear sprocket and would like to get rid of it.. shoot me a pm.

I have an 08 te 610. It has a leo Vince exhaust and command pro tuner about half way. With these I ran about 94 mph stock 15 45 sprockets. Recently went to a 14 48 tooth sprocket set and it does 98 mph with the same tuning. Alot more torque and higher top end speed. Idk how it works like that but it did. I guess the bike has a lot more power it can unlock than I thought. First gear is a little short but the torque makes up for it. I'm now thinking about a 15 or 14 / 52 tooth set but because I like torque much better than speed

14 48 if the gearbox has remained the same is the final drive that the TE610 race bikes used in world enduro comp mid to late 90s
