  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Race Map II when powered up?

OK, here's a dumb question. I love my new TE449 and Ive got 140 miles on her now and would like to install the resistor to try the race map. I know it goes under the seat, but there's nothing in the book or on the USB jump drive saying, "plug in here dummy". I've looked under there and around the computer and don't see an obvious place (I have my suspicions but don't wanna fry the ECM) Now that it's broken in I can't wait to see how it improves the performance. Any help would be great Thanks!!!

Anyone take an Ohm meter and see if the jumper was a resistor or just a Short?
It is a resistor for sure, I went to my local electronics store and spent 25 cents to power up my TE as per threads on this forum.
It plugs into the o2 sensor harness plug when you remove the sensor.

The Dealer should have the Race MAP 2 jumper in stock. I suppose you have to ask for them now in CA! Location Under the seat next to the black box (ECU). Found the plug was Tucked under the Box with a Weather Cap on it (Dummy Plug). I will be @ Gorman this weekend Big6 GP race if you in the area?

Hey, turns out I had almost found it last time I looked. It was tucked under a larger modular plug just in front of the Ecu. It was sorta wedged in there so I had decided to not get too ham fisted just in case.

So today I carefully lifted the computer off the tabs and voila...there it was! Plugged in the resistor and turned on the key, and the display didn't say it was in map 2. So turned it off, reinserted the magic jumper, turned on key and, nothin...at that point I thought it needed to be started. A couple of seconds after it fired, the speedo proudly displayed Race Map II!

Hope this helps others out, thanks Desertyucca for the offer. Off to roost I go!

Stock my 2011 TE511 said nothing, then I put the resister in under the seat and it says "Race map". Then I decatted the muffler and it defaulted to "race maps II" gained good bark off the bottom and a lot more over rev / top end power. It makes the most power in this setup by far. The cool thing is with the decatted big muffler the bike rips and is super quiet at the same time. Sounds like a choked XR400 but runs awesome. Rode with a dude on a KTM530 in the dez and we were both faster on the 511. He LOVED the 511 and i got him on vid with a big cheezy grin proclaiming his love for the 511 after a short ride. :)

Wow, it has been a long time for me....my 2012 TE 511 ( 2 weeks old).....resister, race map.....???? help

Located under the ECU, close to the diagnostics connector loom #35. This is on the 2011 model. I seen on the web site they updated the wire harness's for the 2012 so this could be wrong now.

I have not. The power response with the Race Map 2 is smooth and very predictable. Not sure I would need it. I like the Web Site![/quote]

I have a European Spec 2011 TE449 which I have had from new. It came with the Akro pipe and resistor fitted and has always been in race map 2. I love the bike and the power, but on steep up or downhill sections, wet rocky sections or very technical trails it's a beast and too powerful.

I have seen the Touratech power switch and think it may be the answer for me. When fitted all it does is to effectively remove the resistor from the ECU input and so put the bike back into it's original Map. However when you do this the FAIL message appears on the instrument panel, I assume becuase there is no input from the O2 sensor which is not fitted with the Akro exhuast. The bike appears to run quite normally and is in the standard, lower power Map.

So here's the question that I need answering please. Is it safe to ride the bike with an Akro pipe, (thus no O2 sensor input) and the resistor effectively removed and the FAIL message, with the bike in the standard (lower power) Map????

My dealer gave me the pipe and the jumper but said I couldn't fit them and they'd do it at the 500km service and that they needed to plug the laptop in and tune it. Has anyone else heard of the dealer tuning them or do they just fit the pipe and plug the jumper in? Does it make a very big difference over stock?

Pretty much yes.

Much better power. Needs iBeat software to set TPS AND set fuel richer to match race map

Stock narrow band O2 sensor sets bike lean to pass emissions

Has the Throttle stop been removed?

It is completely stock at the moment. I don't think it has a throttle stop. Has full throttle if that's what you mean?

My throttle stop limited RPMs to around 6-7000 in 6th, so you'd know.

2012 TE310. Some years or models did not have throttle stops...I haven't kept track. Just a heads up. Some models like mine also had restricted air filter cage.

Just to be clear some of you are talking about 449/511 and some different bikes. There is no iBeat or throttle stop on the US 449/511 bikes.

Well, from what I understand, Map I is designed to work with the O2 sensor in order to basically lean out the mixture and thus cut the power a bit and of course satisfy the Draconian regulations for clean air laws. Safe? Probably, but potentially less effective since there is no O2 sensor sending data to the computer in order for it to adjust mixture accordingly. I guess the proof is in the pudding though. If it seems more sedate in MapI I guess you have done nothing wrong. If you are really worried, you could always start looking at the spark plug to see how it's running.

Never mind. Need to check which model you're discussing? No input for 449/511 item

The 2012 TE511 jumper is just a shunt. Put the vom across it before making my switch mod just to be sure and it's all zero's, no resistance.
Hello there,
i`m new here.
Just bought te 449 2011, but the bike come without map jumper. Unfortunately we do not have Husqvarna dealer here in Bulgaria, and i`m unable to buy the map jumper.
Can you be welcome to tell me some nice dealer in USA.
Also if the OEM jumper is just a shunt i will fix for a minute. Advice please
Regards
George
