NMA Enduro Series, Shelton Valley Enduro by Puget Sound Enduro Riders, Shelton, Washington, Date - 5/3/2009 This race looked really nice, any of the PNW crew do it? ride reports?
Yep, it was epic. My friend Ben grabbed my camera and took a bunch of pictures. He also wrote an article about it. Here is a few bits I wrote down about my day... MMM singletrack... Squid at the gas stop... The camera man gets to stop and smell the flowers... This guy saw Ben and instantly tried to gouge his eyes out... :smirk: The rest of the pictures are here... Later,
I used to ride in Shelton and I rode with the "Pissers" as Puget Sound Enduro Riders called themselves. Ah more warm and fuzzy memories. Thanks for the photos.
Thanks for sharing the link, Jake Ben e-mailed me the link and I really enjoyed his story and photos. He just wrote another one for the Golden Spike Hare Scrambles, too. My friend raced the enduro. He's 16 and just moved up to the A class this year after winning his class (B200) the last 2 years. He rode his brand new KTM 250XC for the first time and finished 5th in Open A and 15th overall. I'm pretty proud of him His dad Tim was quoted in Ben's story, too. WoodsChick
Thanks that place is ffffffing beautiful (sorry for the cuss). I used to live on Whidbey Is. and street biked only,,,those trails look epic. Glad you all had a good one. dust and more dust for us now.
Shelton is epic to ride at. This is not an open to the public riding area so no one really has much of an advantage over anyone else by knowing the trails. Also each year that I ride it the club introduces us to even more amazing terrain and trails Jake and I rode on the same minute and Jake won his class He is using an older Mc Enduro computer Still works O.K
Yep, I won my class at an enduro without a odometer, clock, or roll chart... My strategy goes something like this... See Scott follow Scott, don't see Scott, ride faster until I see Scott again. Seemed to work okay accept for the not seeing Scott part, he hauls the mail. Later,
That stuff looks like so much fun. Here in the so ca desert we get very little rain so that is why i do the Nationals at least we get into the trees if we travel 700 miles to Utha .Guest where i am going this weeken round 5 in the trees of Utha
About 200 miles to the east of shelton it looks like this. The top photo is the Eddiville track in Goldendale WA. This is an 8 to 10 mile loop. There are two over there. The other one is 14 to 22 mile loop. 2nd photo is Mattawa in central WA.
Great photo, Kelly! I was there that day! I can almost spot my van between the 2 monster Class A motorhomes that put the squeeze on me. It's the one with the CA license plate I loved that place. WoodsChick
You guys showed that track before...its amazing,,,,,lap times???? (@57.5 minutes per lap????????) super nice.
I raced the OMRA opener at Eddieville back in March. Per my GPS it was 51.1 miles and I was in motion for 2hrs 38mins. I'm sure there's an easy formula to figure out average lap time, but I'm too tired to think about figuring it out. Depending on the event the track will change configurations. On the day I raced there was an addition 3 miles incorporated into the course, including a few grass sections, a rocky ridge and the ever popular snotty logs Love that track! And the people whom own it are class acts.
webfoot at walker this sunday should be interesting if weber has anything to do with it (sure he does)...
Weber was at the webfoot and the riders did enjoy an old school enduro. The winning score overall was a 7 and only a few more under 10. Lots of scores from 10 to 100 !
