• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

New Rack for TE630 Coming From Turbo City

CJBROWN

Husqvarna
AA Class
EDIT: On page 3 of this thread I have developed a subframe reinforcing plate system. For carrying any weight over about 10lbs the sub needs to be either welded with reinforcements or a bolt-on plate like my design. Failing to do so will result in a broken subframe. You have been warned. :D

A fellow forum member went into more installation detail in this thread using my bolt-on plate design here: http://www.cafehusky.com/threads/te-630-sub-frame-mod.22225/

Original thread starts here.

Just dropped my 630 off to Tom at Turbo City so they can develop a production prototype. They thought a couple of weeks with the bike but I'm not sure about how long before they can ship product. Since they make all their product themselves in their modern shop in Orange, California, I imagine they can bring it to market pretty quickly.

This is their 'Borrego' rack:

Their 'Sequoia' rack:

The Sequoia with Cortech bags:

And finally their 'Denali' rack and with bags:

This is my favorite...their version of the rotopax. Theirs is the 'KOLPIN' container and holds 1.5gl.

You can browse all of their products here: www.tciproductsusa.com

Will keep ya posted as it develops.

I had their prototype rack on my KLR for 3 years with Cortech bags. On word.....Awesome! Super durable and the cortech bags are super tough and long lasting. i really abused them both. I don't know if i am ready to KLRize my TE yet though. I like the light weight of the TE over my KLR for the riding i do now. IMG_0890.JPG

I like their Borrego rack. Will probably go with that on my bike.

I like the option of being able to add side bags for hauling camping gear on occasion, but I'm not real keen on having the whole racks on there all the time, especially with the ell-step built in like their Sequoia rack system.

I like how Dirtbagz has a single stand-off bar for their bag setup. I suggested to Tom that there will probably be a lot of customers for his rack that will use them with the other bags. I'm hoping the two products can co-exist on the bike.

There will be many times when just the smaller rack and/or with a small bag on it will be perfect.

Exactly. I already have the Dirt-Bagz, but would like to add the Borrega rack, if they are compatible. I don't have a problem tieing a sleeping bag down on the rear fender, but I might want to mount a RotoPax back there.

UPDATE

I just stopped by TCI Products and they are coming along nicely with their prototypes. Much to my surprise they are building a host of accessories and will have pics soon:
  1. headlight guard
  2. rear MC guard
  3. aluminum skid with engine case guards
  4. adventure touring windshield and mounts
  5. Borrego, Sequoia, and Denali rack systems
Their site has info on these same products for other bike types if you would like to see how and what they build.

Tom is a regular adventure rider himself, so he understands what we want for our bikes. It's all first-class stuff, powder coated, and shipped all over the world.

I love the old school look of the engine guards on their 610 skid plate :applause:

I'm glad I waited on a rack and skid-plate.

Their 610 skid plate oughta bolt right onto the 630, as long as the carbon canister has been removed.

They had my hyde skid off so I'm sure they were test fitting/tweaking to make sure.
I'll put theirs on and sell my hyde one in the flea market here.

They lost a couple of days last week so no pics 'till next week. Everything is done, they need to finish up the tooling jigs and powdercoat the prototype(s) and take pictures.
Can't wait either.

Prototypes are done...some pics:
