Just installed my new Lectron on my old 83 XC500. Dropped right on. New cable and throttle too. Pull is soooooo much EZer. Really look forward to a ride with it. Resealed the reedblock too. All good to go. From what I could see of the piston and cylinder they look great. Reeds look to be boysen dual stage and in very good shape. Next ride is going to be FUN!

Not only is the stock carb huge and heavy but the slide weights a ton and the spring is ridiculous. It gave me arm pump after 40 plus miles. Was hating it last ride.

"wonder how this would work with my V-Force reed block"

All i need is the dimensions of your carb and will make it fit.

It was built to fit this bike / carb, fit absolutely perfect. Better than stock as it is smaller and lighter. The throttle pull is sweet, very EZ. NICE. It was killing me before. I am making notes on what cable for best routing and other features so when I offer these they will be perfect.

yeah the worst thing about the 40/44 vm is that freaking slide...wears faster like that too. an application for the lc huskies would be nice too. the rear bell on those are looong. like on your 400...you are slowly getting me to try one, lol

Cant wait to hear how this works out for you. Raced in the old days with Lectron on the 390 it was great.

Please let us know how cables fit, starting and all. What are you going to do when the power jet really kicks in ?

I understand you can race a Lectron , but it can't be a power jet correct option ? Great to ride with.

make this face  and hold the F on.

    - Another cool thing about the PJ is when you mount up a paddle and head to the dunes, and who doesn't once in a while with a big bore 2 stroke, you can just twist the knob richer and go.

The power jet doesnt really change the top end, what it does is allow the main jet to control the 1/2 to almost wide open range. Mikuni makes a universal power jet kit for their carbs and when you add one you can typically lean out the main jet 100 numbers because the power jet is used to control full throttle jetting.

For all AHRMA Post Vintage classes ('77-up) you can use a Lectron with a power jet, but you can not use a Lectron at all in Vintage ('74-older) power jet or not.

Actually it does. The idea is you build the rod for idle to upper-mid and then the top end slightly lean. Then you can use the PJ to fine tune the top end. It draws fuel from the bowl when there is a lot of flow on top.

Full disclosure, I sell Lectrons so take my words as you wish.

So I got it all buttoned up and ready to go. 2 kicks and running. Just like stock this is an EZ starting bike which is funny because I thought this was going to be a sore spot on this bike (starting). Anyway, clicked the choke after about 10 seconds, adjusted the idle and perfect. Let it warm up some and blipping the throttle is a whole new thing. Snappier response, quicker reving, right back to idle instead of hanging. nice. Even sounds slightly different, more crisp and modern. Did a quick run up and down the street but was raining and I was in street cloths and helmet. Seems much more responsive, feels nice, throttle us super EZ to pull now. So far I love it. Giddy to go for a ride.

Got some new plastic and sticker. Bike is loving me right now. She deserved it.

Kelly have you and Kevin considered making a cable with a 45degree bend instead of the 90degree bend with a weather seal? Or a screw in straight cable.

Thanks. I have a 86 WR400 also. But there something so much more vintage about air cooled, dual shock, drum brakes.

looks good! the cable does worry me but im sure you will have that sorted shortly..i take it it will work with the gunnar gasser no problem?..
clutch cable having a lil issue there...did you know a swap to the lc clutch arm also reduces clutch pull effort? i can dig around my stash if you like..see how yours is a little flat? the newer style is more like a z and does help. see if your 400 looks different. 86 or so i think they started using it

The cable was like that because I was working on a different lever. Brand new Terrycable.
