We have 3 of the little Huskys now 1 cr50 and 2 cr65s, and soon a tc 85 my kids love them and have no interest in going back to a mini orange bike.
I have been looking through other forums and there is very little discusion between parents on the bikes regarding set up or mods or anything so I was hoping to start this thread to get something moving.
My son raced the cr 50 for 2 years and now is on the 65, we had a great run with the 50 however there were a couple of things to keep an eye on to keep things going smoothly.
Both my son and middle daughter now ride the 65s and love them.
As a parent I love the 65 as they have proven to be very reliable little bikes and easy to work on.
Anyone who has tried to do a fast spark plug change on a ktm 65 09 or newer at the start gate will know what I mean.
Now with Husky bringing out the tc 85 my oldest daughter has her ktm 85 for sale and is looking forward to the delivery of this hot looking little bike so come the start of the new race season in late jan here in northern Queensland we will have all 3 of them on the husky minis.

Bill from BMP would have extensive knowledge of these bikes I would assume as he runs or at least ran a sponsored mini class for many years. Maybe he or his crew will chime in with info.

hoov165x, we all know that the tc 85 is the ktm 85, however it all depends on what flag you want to fly on race day and for us its a husky one. Yes they both come from the same mould but heck with only 8 months lead in time they had to start from somewhere, remember back to the relationship between suzuki and kawasaki same bikes different colours.
    .
Billf thanks for that, yeah its a real shame the little huskys never made it to the usa as I believe the 65 is a good little bike , the beta engine is a pretty solid platform to start from and with the vortex3 reeds and the same mikuni carb as the newer ktm 65s the power is there, it just needed a bit of playing with the jetting.
Another little nice thing with the 65 is the alloy swingarm and linkage susp,2 things not found on a little ktm.

tensionxxx2 great to hear from another 65 parent, i just fitted a Scalvini pipe and muffler to my sons 65 so far not to bad a great investment as it has really made a difference to the power and delivery im heading to the track tomorrow to fiddle with the jetting , im thinking of going up to a 230 on the main now.
I have been informed that the new 85 will be avaliable in about 3 weeks however the first in the country for a couple of months are small wheels, so at this stage we will just go that option but have just ordered a set of blue talon hubs with black rims to make it a big wheel for my oldest daughter. we have just taken delivery of her new 2014 cr 125 anniversary for her first year in the 125class so with her two bikes we are now now a real Husky family with 2 cr 65s 1 tc 85 and 1 cr 125 at race day . keeps me real busy.

I hope that we can get a 50 and 65 as well in the next year or so my son turns 4 in march
He can ride a pw or ttr in the nippers but he will be on a huskyboy before he can race it
Kye Andrews won the 9/13 65cc on a husky at the troy bayless classic at the weekend

Great to hear about the 65 winning on the weekend, its a real shame that the 65 was only produced for a couple of years as now people are realising what a great platform they are, the beta engine is bullet proof and with a bit of work you can get them up to around 22hp, sadly with only a few left on the floors around the country once they are gone thats it.
Cheko7 what you can also do for your son in the nippers class is use a cr 50 and put a 10 inch front wheel on it then he can keep the same bike for the auto class after he turns 7, your also supposed to run a 14mm carb instead of a 19 i think from memory but not to many club care about that for nippers. We ran the cr 50 for 3 years with my son and middle daughter and had a great run out of it.

I'm waiting on the 85 to come out as well, but I gotta say the colours and plastics look crap on the new models, if it is only small wheels coming out first then I will have to go with something else for my girl, was looking at a 125 but she is like 49kgs wet....lol, so if she dropped the bike on the track, physically she probably wouldn't be able to pick it up and get going.
why are you going to a 230 on the main

What price are the 85's coming out at. I'm thinking round six

My oldest daughters new Tc 85 is now enroute from Perth and should be here on friday or monday,
I had a look at the tc 250 and fc 450 when they arrived here in cairns a couple of days ago and the finish on the new plastic is good there is no worries there.
My girl is also around 50 kg and is now feeling a lot more comfortable on the 125, at the club day in cairns last weekend she ended up 5th on a very wet track against the boys so I was impressed with her, as a result she will race both the 125 and 85 at the go girls series and Qld titles over the next few months.
With the cr 125 I went for a low seat dropping it by 35mm and .38 front fork springs, kept the 5.0 on the rear shock and went to a 50 tooth rear sproket, that has made it a lot more comfortable for her to ride and she has more confidence on it.
If anyone can get a hold of the run out Italian husky 125s at that price they are a great way to start the kids into the 125 class, as a lot of clubs now are starting to seperate the 125s from the 250 4st and 150 2st to help the 13 and 14 year olds move into that class easier.
As for the jetting on the 65 I ended up sticking with the 220 on the main at this stage with the new pipe, I will have a look at it again when we race down south in winter, then I might go the 230.

Oh yeah the retail price on the tc 85 is the same as the ktm 85 around $7200.
