    It’s happy days lately if you’re a fan of these fine brands. Many of us might have fond memories of their old warhorses and would like to see a better effort from the Land of the rising sun. Enduro wise maybe Yamaha care, and the new Honda is interesting, but really, looks like the effort is mainly directed at the MX fleet. Even there our favourite Euro brands are hitting the mark.
    Is this a good thing? If the Jap brands keep getting whipped, bike sales fall, general interest starts to wane, kids all take off and play soccer, less spono cash, just a start line awash with white and orange.
    The future seems bleak......(evil chuckle).

    Your scope might be a little small when looking at sales numbers of motorcycles made in Japan; Sales of any product needs advertising; Racing is advertising; A live performance of your product really; No different than walking into the mall and seeing a blending machine in action;

    Honda just set a new(?) upper limit of pay for a rider, KR94. Looks very unlikely they will fold up and leave as long as they sale motorcycles, at least due to KTM winning a motoX race.

    Honda is the worlds' supply line of motorcycles parts in many ways, direct and indirect; Don't fret young man, they are going nowhere, anytime soon.

    This statistic represents Honda's worldwide motorcycle sales from the fiscal year of 2011 to the fiscal year of 2018. Honda sold around 19.5 million motorcycles worldwide in the 2018 fiscal year.

    Honda's motorcycle sales

    In 2016, approximately 335,800 units of on-highway motorcycles and almost 90,000 units of off-highway motorcycles were sold to customers in the United States. The Honda Motor Corporation, is one of the largest motorcycle manufacturers in the United States and worldwide. Between the fiscal year of 2012 and the fiscal year of 2018, Honda’s annual motorcycle sales in North America have increased by around 113,000 units. Much of this success can be attributed to the effective advertisement and consequently the high number of sales. From 2011 to 2012, Honda’s global advertising expenditure increased to around 300 million U.S. dollars.

    Honda’s motorcycle sales are also on the increase in the United Kingdom. In the first two quarters of 2014, almost 10,000 Honda motorcycles were sold in the UK, making Honda the best-selling motorcycle brand between January and June of 2014, ahead of Japan’s Yamaha Corporation and England’s Triumph Motorcycles Ltd. As a result of its worldwide success, Honda’s motorcycle revenue amounted to around two trillion Japanese Yen. Globally, the Japanese multinational manufacturer of automobiles sold some 19.5 million motorcycles in the fiscal year ending March 31, 2018.

    Honda dwarfs the other 3 top brands of bikes made there also but they gotta be in the millions of bikes sold also.

    The topic of motorcycle sales has been talked about over and over the last few yrs; Several things are tossed out on why maybe racing\dirt bike riding in general have been on the decline through the yrs and race results were not included. Overall price of the racing or family-riding type events, usually came back to price in the total package of the experience, including price of the bikes, with KTM in the cross-hairs.

    That ~19M number of bikes sold was astonishing to me... Giving KR94 anywhere close to the salary that was rumored says honda wants to win but more importantly, they want the honda brand name mentioned as much as possible and shown on the TV screen each racing week for sure. CG did a very good job riding KR94 bike in the sx season.
