Finally got myself a 87 XC

No real bike up here to buy in a XC and in a 87 year.
I dont want another 86 lol and WR's are to low.
I have pretty much enough parts to make what ever, if i have the right frame..
So i found this in the States. Seat, frame/sub frame and tank for $290 shipped.
XP number on it, no cracks or ugly wear.

Here we go and I am doing it up some WP forks for a motocross look with a headlight..

Yes i found them last year for $50. So why not, and i sure feel the difference on the few rides between my 86 400 with and the 85 500 with out them.

This look with a head light and XC on the swingarm, shall be a great new bike to ride and look at.

The black looks good, as it turns that color on wear spots.
The material does last a long time, 5 years or so on the 86 stuff.

the black tank, numberplates, and box lid were a nice upgrade over the earlier models.

Its ll about the tank, less maintenance with a black tank and way less effort to remove it.
Don't have to drain it and clean it, like the white tanks.
This will be the bike to ride, plan to build it up to use the 87 more than the others.
I rode my 88 wr a bunch mid season, but it's way too low for the trails i end up on.
The motor in my 88 needs some refreshing and the AE will be back in that bike to park it.

Found out a TE swingarm is a little different on the chain roller mount pad. I put a stock XC double roller on and it hit the air box. I had the swingarm laying around so i am using it. I made a 1/2" shorter steel version and all clears again. Full travel. Looking at it now, i think may delete the lower roller now all together like Husaberg did.

Plastic kit i found in the left kicker group, traded a 510 air box for it.
Sweet light i found for the bike.
Acerbis Baja fender for it, used deal but cheap.
Rewelded china rad tabs and some HP guards

Got my rim and other things coming along.
