Hi and Merry Christmas All of you!!
I am rebuilding another 1972 450, this one is a WR. I have replace the points and condenser and the Secondary coil. On the primary coil one side goes to the points and is tied to the condenser and has a black wire to the secondary coil, the other side of the primary coil has a green wire that should go to ground, I have done that at the Secondary coil. I Am getting a Crappy Spark! So I removed the green wire from the secondary coil mounting bolt and put a jumper from the engine block to the secondary coil mounting bolt and am getting a Great Spark!! I have cleaned all the mounting points for the engine and frame, Same thing happens. I switched the ignition with another, Same Problem, Same Solution. I will Take some Video so you can see what I am talking about. Here's some pics

So I was wondering why a green wire is soldered to the tail of the primary ignition coil. Has anyone seen this before? I have 2 like this. I ended up just trimming and heat shrinking it so it would not touch anywhere. The ignition works well and the bike runs well.. Here's some pics
