Is there a maximum size of the drum lining for proper function? Is this something to worry about or are the hubs always pretty much close enough to specification that it does not matter? Arc the shoes in and run it?

    Thanks in advance.

I have two rear hubs and both seem ok as far as the surface condition of the liner. Nothing some elbow grease won't clean up.
It would be nice to know the limit. I may measure them tomorrow and post up the numbers.

Thats pretty much it. The 1976 shop manual discusses only the brake shoe lining wear, recommended minimum is 2mm. I would think to arch the drum lining until the 2mm brake lining minimum isn't enough that the brake rod adjuster can compensate for. Then it would be time for a new, or newer hub.

Watch our Youtube Brake video. You can always get your brake shoes re-lined oversize if the surface is beyond its normal life diameter..

You will need to look for that service in YOUR local area...
