  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

125-200cc Decompressor kit for Project '02 CR300!

guscycle

Husqvarna
AA Class
I just recently had Larry Weichman do his magic on my Son and I's '02 Husky CR300 Project's cylinder head and WOW what a differance! If anyone knows the odd shape kick start lever makes for some tricking starting, but add a high compression, worked over 300 big bore kit and things get a little harder. Also add that my son has pins and rod in his right ankle and I have not one but two blown out knees, let's just say things looked bleak of even firing this baby up. Enter,Mr. Weichman...NOT ONLY DOES IT START, FIRST EASY KICK like a 125,
BUT THE FIT AND FINISH IS AS GOOD AS ANY FACTORY PART:banana:  (first pic is of Project CR300 W/out decompressor)husky1.jpgIMG_4013.jpgIMG_4066.jpgIMG_4070.jpg ! If you have and old school air-cooled Husky or liquid cooled Husky( ie. WR360) or even dare I say it , Jap big bore(ie. Honda CR500),and you need alittle help getting things spinning, DON'T hesitate to do this mod.He can be reached at weichman@charter.net ...or 815-623-8940.

Yeah high compression on 360 without decompression heas was a bit tricky.

Now I have the lectron it is redundant.

Nice mod and very nice bike  What's the purpose of the CR300? Just more grunt and fun or racing it?

..a little of both,,my son can run this bike locally in MX against the 450 4t's...he has a '10 TC250 that he loves for the woods...I really want the WB165 kit for my '07 but I kinda ran out of "fun" money after helping him out and my just finished daily commuter,an '09 SM45R. One of these days when I get time, going to post the projects from start to finish..

I've been thinking the same thing...165 against 250 4t and 300 in the 450 class. There's lots of local MX here and been feeling like doing some track time while I still can
And the 165 kit is worth every penny. I love to ride anything and the 300 is great, but the 165 is special. The modded pipe and a Lectron is the icing on the cake.

Victa do a auto decomp valve which coonects via a tube to the inlet manifold the vacuum from the inlet manifold seals the valve shut not sure on thread size but means no trying to find the decomp button near a hot pipe or in a hurry..

Very cool! I like how compact it is. I have a 13:1 Honda 500 flat track engine that has a crank driven starter that could use one of those. It's a PITA to roll it past TDC, if you don't the automotive starter can't even turn the engine over.

Does Larry do 4 stroke head porting and mods? I'm planning to build a spare bullet for my vintage Honda 500 flat tracker and I've been shopping someone to do some machine work on the head and cylinder.

I like the idea. I've been thinking of selling my 300 just due the the crappy kickstart not agreeing with my torn meniscus.
Can you give a brief explanation on how it works? I assume you pull the knob out and it locks in place. Do you then have to push it back in once started? Just to confirm, this isn't just to find TDC right? It actually reduces the force needed to kick?
How much does he charge? This might be exactly what I need!!!
Thanks!

You just simply push the decomp button in and it automatically closes when the bike fires. No need for TDC, just kick away. It's like kicking over the motor with the spark plug removed. Effortless starting!

He charges $150 + $14 for return shipping. Worth every penny and I had my head back in 7 days after he got it. Can't recommend this enough, it's fantastic.
