I have recently had to strip the case down on my '15 FE501 to replace a failed torque limiter. Do to so I had to strip the clutch and basket out. The plates are all in spec so I did not replace them when reassembling and kept them all on the same order. Everything spins freely until I reinstall the spring and push plate (using factory setting II). With the clutch completely assembled and the clutch lever pulled in I can barely spin the back wheel with all my strength. The plate is moving about an 1/8 inch when pulling the lever and I can move the plates in and out of the basket when the lever is pulled. There were no issues with the clutch on this bike prior to the disassembly, so I'm guessing I screwed something up. Are there any common mistakes which can lead to this or has anyone ever experienced this?

    Thanks

Have you bled the clutch? That would be my first try.
