    Trying to reassemble a 73 chassis, does anyone know the size of the ball bearings for the head stock, I have the races and cages?

    I have an NOS replacement set and the balls measure 4.75 mm the balls are not loose but in a cage, I suppose loose will work just as well.

    Yes loose is the better way, pack as many in as you can.

    That makes them 3/16"? Seems strange size for an European bike!
