Are all 520 chains the same size? (not the number of links)

    I am replacing the chain on my 630 SMS which is a 520 and am replacing it with another 520. But the links seem larger. Also, when I tried to re-install the chain guard at the front sprocket, it's hitting the chain, which is what lead me to look at both chains again. The new chain is an EK 520 MVXZ.

    What gives?

    The spacing on the links / pins is the same but the width can vary because of the o-rings and plate thickness.

    Indeed and you can get a narrower one for the TE which is in fact considered better for off-road (eg DID Narrow Enduro X-ring)
