Have an '87 250XC w/ 6-spring, 8-plate, 7-disc clutch. Anyone know what stack thickness should be ? Have seen 32.5mm in earlier manuals but nothing I could find on later ones. This one is around 27.5mm thick and all components look brand new. Thank you--Rhett

according to the manual you treat each plate individually and measure them for go or no go
but the stack thickness you read is for a 5 spring, reduce the disc number by one for the 6 spring
32.5 for the 5 spring stack, friction is 3mm, metal is 1.2
take 1 friction and one metal 4.2 from 32.5 and you have 28.3 for the stack, assuming all things are good (new)
take your number 27.5 from that and you have .8mm or .031 in.
probably the limit on the wear for spring preload vs clutch slip, but ,,,
