Your piston doesn't look like a Mahle one.It is very new. What is the factory which did it ?

So HVA have 83 175 pistons? Looks like a Wiseco piston to me, which is fine.

I purchased most of the parts for a 83/175 but missed bidding on the engine. Such a big frame for a little engine.

Hi Kartwheel68, may be only you can help...

    I have a 175 1983 cylinder that I want to put on a 125 engine (1982).
The cylinder has to be rebored because of rust. I don't have old piston. The problems are:
    1) I have only the 125cc Head, and I ask you, if possible, which are the differences with the 175 1983 head.
    2) I don't have the piston, and I am looking for some alternatives (you suggested yamaha Banshee, RD350, and I've found also Piaggio Hexagon 180 or Yamaha IT 175 could be one), and I am asking you if you can mesure the compression height of the 1983 piston to find one similar. About the problem of the 15 mm piston pin (these alternatives are all 16 mm pin), I think that there could be a solution: Yamaha on his YZ125 around 2000 passed from 15 to 16 piston pin, but with the same rod; the only difference is a particular top end bearing that is 16 inside and 20 outside ( https://www.scafutopistoni.it/gabbie-a-rulli/2894-gabbia-a-rulli-spinotto-pistone-16x20x20-mm.html ) and could work.
    Please let me know.
    Thanks
    Stefano

    Thanks Claude, datas really usefull!
Now I hope someone can measure the compression height of the 1983 175 standard piston (the distance from the piston pin to the top of the piston).
Let me say good luck to Stefan Everts in adifficult moment!

The Yamaha YZ125 has always used a 15mm wrist pin, so I am not sure what that wrist pin is for. Fred has said that Jeff Bens has pistons, is there a contact info for him?

I'm ready to send my '82 HP-kit cylinder and piston out. I don't seem to be able to find stock piston clearance. Anyone?
