I would strongly suggest not using low profile screws.
The recess for the Allen Key socket bottoms out too close to the thread and is, in my opinion, the point at which they stretch and release tension.

I made a video on replacement just recently.

Save your pickup coil; worth a bit of money.

I don't know about the puller size (might be in this thread though; also check with the 449/511 FB group). Why are you pulling the flywheel- damage?

how many miles do you have?

The Husky 449/511-BMW G450X flywheel puller is a 28mm x 1.5 pitch. It's not a 27mm. You will need the 18mm pressure insert cap as well to keep from damaging the end of the crankshaft.

Is that a female puller? 28mm 1.5 pitch
Where can I obtain one with the pressure cap?
I have done online searches and have found none.

    Paw Paw,

Yes its a female 28mm x 1.5 pitch. There is no other source to get these pullers except BMW or Husky and at this point that may even be getting harder to get or not at all. Unless of course you have access to a lathe and a 28mm x1.5 tap is available off of amazon or eBay for about 60.00. I have a 14" Monarch lathe with a 48" bed myself but my time is worth more than that to even fool with making my own. However I did consider it.

Last time I checked for dealership availability though was last March when I bought mine. It took about 2 weeks to get it to my door.

You should be able to get the proper puller through any Husqvarna dealer but the pressure caps may be on back order or no longer available at all.

I bought 1 of mine ( I had 2) from CSA (Cycle Ski & ATV) in Tucson about a year back. It cost $145.00 with both the 25mm and 18mm pressure insert caps. The 18mm cap protects the easily damaged end of the crankshafts stem as it has to ride in the cases bearing.

The 25mm cap is used on the end of one of the primary shafts under the clutch side case along with a pair of other (insert chisels) that grab onto one of the primary gears that must be removed to split the cases from the right side.

These insert chisels ride in a slot machined into the outer part of the puller itself so this puller though expensive has a dual purpose. I had 2 and sold 1 on the G450X riders forum, however the second one I had that I sold, I found it on eBay. It was the black oxide BMW version. I also came with all the other related pressure caps and the (insert chisels) that I previously didn't have, which I mentioned above. So I sold the spare one with the caps and kept the Insert chisels.

There are a few shady flywheel puller dealers claiming to have pullers for the 449/G450X engine but they are actually a 28mm X 1.0 pitch "Tusk Racing" flywheel pullers, that size is for a KX450/KLX etc. and a few other Japanese models of the past. Don't waste your time, I have 1 myself. I contacted a few of these sellers of these 28mm X 1.0 pitch pullers and once I told them what was up, they dropped their ads claiming they would fit the BMWG450/Husky 449/511/CCM GP450 engines within a few hours. I'm sure you could probably find a few still doing it

I personally spoke to flywheel puller manufacturer "Dennis Stubblefield" who makes several quality flywheel pullers about a possible run of these pullers but he wasn't interested unless I did a pre paid order of 50 or more.

If you want to read a bit more about this puller and how I came to know about this, here's the link to the thread on the G450 riders forum.
