• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

TE/TC 2015 te300 jetting recommendations

I'm in the Seattle area so about same elevation. Jd red needle mid clip. 35 pilot and 165 main. Still feels a bit fat but cleans up easy and has no bog of throttle.
So finally got to ride for the first time this weekend. A buddy had a Red JD Needle, so i ended up with that plus 35 PJ and 165 main. It seems really good!

Rode the vantage poker run on Sunday. Elevation is approx 1000 ft. Bike ran excellent over 40 miles of sand and whoops. Had to turn air screw out 1/2 turn more to 2 out. Bike lugged through sand and up hill climbs with zero bog. Very happy with jetting. Took just under 2 gallons of fuel. Pretty good considering bike was under load all day.

Yep - i was out 2 on the air screw as well. did plenty of slow technical stuff and some open fields - no issues. Thanks again for the tip!

My te300 wouldn't accept the magic N3ch needle with stock jets.I finally lowered the stock needle to 2nd position with 35 PJ and 168 Main, which improved performance overall, but it still doesn't rip.Evidently porting and or timing has been altered from the factory.

I've checked with my dealers wrench on what the heck to do,they were slightly baffled as well.So after may attempts I'm at 35 pilot N3CH needle 2nd position 168 main, and stock yellow power valve spring in from the casing 4 turns, that is the best I've found for 2015 TE300.Since Keihin doesn't make a smaller pilot than stock 35,there is no other way to lean out the idle bog. What about changing out the slide?Anyone have any experience? And Airbox vents, next thing I'm going to try.

I've ordered a 6.5 slide and a couple needles based on some setup info I was given. Still waiting on that to show up. My bike is brand new and I've only had a chance to start it up a couple times. It's way too rich stock and won't clean out. I'm at about 300 feet above sea level.

I ride between 900-1500' elevation, and just changed back to my summer jetting, which seems to work pretty well. I'm at 35P, 168M, Suzuki NECJ needle in the middle clip (3) a 1.5 turns out on the air screw. Seems to work pretty well around here, may drop the needle one clip because I think it's still a touch rich.

Just rode the desert 100 poker run. Elevation approx 1000 ft. Jetting I listed earlier was great! Cleaned out good. Very pleased with stock suspension but new springs for my weight. Love this bike!!

Hey Scott, I met a guy on an airplane from Wrangell, AK to Seattle the other day and he was talking about the Desert 100. He said a buddy of his just bought a new TE300. Wonder what the chances are that's you? Never caught his name but he was telling me about doing a couple Baja 1000's and I think he was up in Wrangell working on swimming pools.

On a different note remember the 92 husqvarnas two strokes were super fast (different cylinder?) Exhaust bridge??? Stock jetting plowed corn field early morning enduro if my mind serves me correctly three new huskys with stock jetting seized!! Every one seems t have different theory's on jetting. I like to be a tish fat on the main jet just so if I'm in deep sand or a long fireroad I Jave no worries. On this 15 tc 250 I havnt touched nothing not even the air screw and it seems to run fairly well although the warmest its been is 60 degrees or so....

My 2015 TE300 was very rich. Long story short, I am running the N3CH needle (3rd), 35PJ, 168MJ, AS 1.5 turns out and its pretty good now. I'm still not happy with it though, but getting closer. Still have a slew of needles to try yet. I'm at sea level (0-1000), days are probably averaging 14C. I may do a few test runs with the airbox cover removed as this new airbox seems to be restrictive. Down low, the power is good, but mid-top is not great yet. I run the blue PV spring flush.

I've changed mine to 172 main, NECJ needle on second clip down, 38 pilot, 1.5 turns on air screw. Rode in Kentucky, 800-1500' elevation around 80-90F.

I still swear by my jetting I listed in the original post. Rode from sea level to 2500ft so far and runs great! Very small it of spooge from exhaust and plug is on rich side. My riding style is more of a Luger. It cleans out great when opened up though.

Hi all.

Just picked up a 2015 TE300, and I noticed it was way too rich from the factory.

Picked up the bike from the dealership (Edelman Sales) and rode one time last weekend with it. The bike ran fine.

I bought Golden Spectro to mix at about 44:1. I added about a 1/3 of a tank and rode around a little. Went to start the bike the other day, and it wouldn't start. Cranked for a bit and checked the plug and it was definitely fouled.

Also noticed oil residue dripping from the tailpipe onto the swing arm. The manual lists the recommended ratio as 60:1.

Between my rich premix and the rich jetting, the motor appears to be flooding with fuel and won't start.

I will most likely be ordering the JD Jet kit since that seems to be the concensus.

Thanks!

y'all check your float heights.....just rode this weekend with another KTM300 (same engine and config as TE/TC Huskys) guy who has been getting stupid low fuel mileage, like mine first was.
tipped his bike maybe 5-10 degrees to the side and fuel straight poured out of the overflow (I know that's unscientific but its s quick way to physically see how high the bowl fuel level is. on mine I can now go almost 45deg with no overflow and mine is at slightly above the minimum height. Im sure KTM does not even go inside these carbs, they are Keihin sourced and probably assembled in cheap labor factory in the Far east......rather than chasing jetting by trusting the base settings get inside and at least verify the float height. My suggestion.

I have my Main jet # at the house but I went to the NECJ (RM250 Needle)
did I think.... ONE up from stock (not positive maybe two) on the main and that needle and DONE - perfect.
Pilot no change
