Hey im fairly new to riding still but it wasnt long after i bought my first bike that i realized that i needed much more than a ttr 230. the local dealer has an 05 TE 450 that was used for hare scrambles and a few other things. the bike has a top and bottom rebuild and looks in great shape. Is there anything i should look out for on this bike before i trade up? also they have a 04 TE 510 for just a little cheaper that is also in good shape does anyone out there have any advice on this?

    Sorry I was busy.

You should be able to post freely now - we had some trouble with computers from Asia selling Viagra & posting porn links a few months ago. Amazing how fast those can plug up the forum.

Hence we are checking everyones first post on the forum.

the 2005s are better than the 2004s, better valves and fuel delivery for starting.

I had a ยด06 TE450 a good bike, the 510 is more for an open field, in the woods the 450 is most likely more frendly

'05 was a very good year.
Revised valves, carb, starting, plastic, suspension, plus lots of little things.

You should buy with confidence. Its a very good bike. With a rebuilt motor an '05TE450 or 510 is probably one of the best 'sleeper' deals out there.

Buy '06 if you need a 50 state street legal bike.

Depends on the price they want for the bikes. I'm guessing since you're new to the sport, you're new to Husky's as well. I don't know what your dealer wants for the bikes, but make sure you are getting a good deal, or the quality of the bike will be beside the point. I think it might be wise topost the pricing here so folks cna give you an idea of what kind of deal you're getting. If the price is within a certain range, you might be better off buying a new one from your nearest Husky dealer. You might even get lucky and find a left over '08 (though chances might be slim) and get an even better deal. The other side to this coin is that if you buy the used bikes, you will get no warranty and most likely will have to pay entirely up-front. You might wind up getting a brand-new Husky for around $135/month, or use what you have for a down payment and only have to make a year or so worth of cheap montly payments. My advice to you would be to post the price on here so these guys can kick it around for you. They've been Husky riders for a while and know a good deal when they see one. Have confidence in their advice.

i got an 05 te450 and i love it - i had the cash to upgrade to an 08 this year and even though i love the 08 i just cant out ride the 05 yet. I bought the 08 for my wife and i ride it a lot and its handle a lot nicer than the 05, it doesnt have the aggressive instant power the 05 has all the way through the power curve - i love, its like riding a v8 :)

Its such a nice thing, i got my forks rebuilt, custom valve and new springs and it made it a new machine.

    I have a 05 TE450... the thing's pretty much bullet proof!

Just make sure it's jetted right and if you have problems buy the JDjettng kit!

On mine I just change the oil after every couple of rides... also check with UpTite Husqvarna about the X-Ring for the clutch slave cylinder.
