Thinking of picking up a used 2004 tc 450, Any know issues I should look for? Also are the plastics compatible with any of the red years? 2007?

The plastics are not compatible with the newer bikes unless you change the seat and tank. The 2000-2004 2 strokes shared the same plastics. The valves on the 2004 models were poor but may have been changed by now. The mikuni carb made the bike slow starting unless it was addressed.

I used to have one a long time ago. Some had valves that moved a lot and some did not. Hopefully by this time all of that has been dealt with. Pretty easy to work on. My carb worked OK at 1500 ft elevation but was not as smooth as it could be however I used it as a trail bike. The e-start worked well.

I agree the e-start works well, just some of the bikes were hard starting door to the fueling.

Depends on the part, there is definitely some cross over to other years and models.

Love my 2004! I did change the valves to stainless. I also have the red plastics which did require a tank change. The previous owner also switched the carb to a kiehn. Parts are easy to find and the bike does not need much. Really bomber, just wear items are needed.

I agree the changes that were made to your bike make it a great bike ! That is what I would do if I had a 2004 model.
