    Hello everyone,

I have acquired a 1992 WXC 250 and have been in the process of restoring it to rider condition for a woods play bike. New UFO plastics modified from later model, Acerbis headlight, Wossner piston kit, chain sliders and various other repairs and upgrades. Not exactly period correct, but that's not my goal. I'm on to the fork for replacement of seals/rebuild and am looking for any info anyone may have. I understand this year has the Showa preload adjustable fork, the service manuals I have only cover the White Power units. The supplement for 1992 states it has a Showa fork, but does not cover any service or adjustment procedures!

I would love to get a copy of the owners manual, or at the least fork oil levels and adjustment baselines. Not sure about comp/rebound settings, 20220402_181442.jpg and suspension adjustment is not my strong suit. I have scoured the web looking for info on the fork, and have found none. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Oh, and I understand the price of admission is a photo!

nice clean find, the 92 didn't have huge sales success so the 93 has an almost identical fork same with 94 if I recall, those manuals are "easier" to find
and as an fyi your swingarm looks like a 93, is the kickstand attached to the frame?

The 1992 preload adjustable was inside the fork. I can see the external adjusters in the picture you gave us. As Greg said the swing arm looks like the 1993 as well. The yellow fork guards also suggest 1993 since white was stock on 1992 models. The 93 is a better bike that got some nice updates. That is great looking bike btw.

Thanks for for the reply's guys! I'm pretty pleased with how it's turning out so far. Got two heat cycles on it with a short ride mellow ride after. Thought I heard it pinging, I suspect gas is not high test enough (91 non oxy). 20220319_182222.jpg 20220318_182029.jpg 20220318_182138.jpg 20220319_182222.jpg 20220318_182029.jpg 20220318_182138.jpg Kickstand is attached to the frame, tag on headtube says 1992 model year, but maybe it was made in 92 for the year 93? Older mid project pics here...

the 92 frame decal is odd but the kickstand on the frame is definitely a 93 or newer
    again a clean bike

Thanks 2premo! I looked at the parts manuals and they confirm the swingarm and kickstand placement are 93 issue. Any other visible differences between the 92 and 93 on machines? What other upgrades did the 93 get?

Mixed up fresh 91 non-oxy fuel 32/1 mineral base and added a ounce per gallon of Klotz octane booster. Pinging is now gone and bike is running great! Much quieter now with the B sized Wossner piston. It had great compression before I did the top end, but the Wiseco piston had .185mm of clearance to cylinder wall. Couldn't find listed specs for the Wiseco, but I assume 66.82mm is collapsed from what it supposed to be.

Still on the hunt for fork information! I found a old post on dirtrider that talks about the manual that I think covers it.

    I've got the "Owner's, service and tuning manual" that covers the 1993 WXC-WXE 250 & WXC-WXE 360 (part number 800073908/93; 198 pages)

Any chance anyone has this manual? It's not in the massive collection DVD I bought from husky rider off ebay. Or, can anyone state fork oil weight, level and how it's measured, and baseline adjustments? Are the forks both setup the same, or is one compression and the other rebound damped?

I'm pretty thorough about research, but have hit a dead end on this one. Thanks to anyone who has additional info, I really appreciate it!

the 92 was the 1st 360, so the updates, were a few, biggest engine specific one is the power valve

I plugged in the vin to insurance site and it came up as a 1993 WXC 250, so that answers that question at least.

There was a supplemental manual for the forks in 1993, I think I have one in the shop.

I would sure appreciate it if you can find it, I haven't been able to locate anything on the forks. Not going to dive in without some more info
