How is the head decomp working for you? You have to push it down every time you kick? Thanks.

Push down, EZ kick, when it starts if closes? Might have to do this to my 83 XC 500.

kick through 7 times to prime carb with comp. release depressed.

pull out comp. release and put piston at top dead center.
depress comp. release button and boot it.

My bike starts first or second kick cold and first kick hot.

These things were made for big bore bikes!

Racers machine in Escondido,Ca. did the work for me.

highdez: Im helping a friend trying to get his 1982 430XC running again, ( in storage for 15 yrs)... What oil do you recommend for the transmission, and also your recommendation for lubricating oil that is mixed with fuel,( type and mix ratio)?

    Thanks ,

    Walt

In the crank case i run walmart 30 wt. non detergent and change it after every ride. premix i love Blendzall 20 to 1 in the dunes and 40 to 1 play riding in the high desert and with my intelijet set up i can adjust jeting with the twist of the tank mounted knob to make up for the oil ratio differance, Blenzall runs a little dirty but the flashback aromatherapy is worth it.Hey there is a company out there that even makes Blenzall candles, try that for your next candle light dinner!
If this bike has been in storage that long i would do a leak down test to check out the integrity of the main seals as this will cause the bike to run lean and possibly seize.
