Picked up some properly sized clamps today... Finalized the remote reservoir locations using heat shrink on the clamps... I have no contact with the bare metal of the clamps to the frame or shock reservoirs. A little work with the heat gun and snipsand I was able to reshape the splash guard around the reservoir in it'snew location.

No! I checked, double-checked and checked again. A straight edge next to the tire at it's widest point clears by a mile. Unless the swingarm gets bent or the wheel gets out of line with the hub the only thing that could happen is damage from a rock.
Thinking about something for that also.
I could always fabricate a complete new guard out of aluminum but for now it's done.

I am more concerned about the hose being too close to the exhaust... I have a plan for that.

No... Very simple... Compared to rewiring a Saab Turbo that had an electrical fire!

Inside of the left side panel... Installed some Hi-Tec heat barrier supposedly good for 2,000 degrees... We'll see!

Well after visiting my Printer/Graphics Designer today with my tank to get some die cut tank decals made since I was not happy with the ones I purchased I decided to compound, wax and install the tank while I waited.
This is the first time the bike has been 100% (+-) assembled since I disassembled her for the reconditioning.
I used DuPont #7 polishing compound by hand to bring up the shine and Mothers California Gold to wax the cleaned up surfaces.

    Looking real nice!

The top of the tank was singedquite badly in the fire...

Nice looking job so far. The heat barrier sounds good. I found that aluminum foil is a heat barrier anyway so it should work great.

Caution with the 390. I was almost topped out in sixth gear standing up in the straights and I had to pull the bike back under me. The bike was trying to leave me.

Had that happen to me on a 1980 Suzuki GS 850 G back in 81! I had detailed the bike over the weekend and on the way to work Monday morning I cracked the throttle and almost slid off the seat... Last time I ever Armoralled a seat on a bike!
