    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Hi fellas! It's been a while since I posted here. Recently acquired a mechanically solid and clean 79 250WR, but while starting the bike, I felt that the KS spring was on its way out (loose, not returning completely, etc...). About 1.5 weeks ago, while I tried to start it, I kicked through it, and the kickstart lever didn't return. Removed the clutch cover last week, and sure enough, the end piece (tang) had snapped off. Ordered a new KS spring and clutch cover gasket from Phil at husqvarna-parts.com, and it will arrive tomorrow.

I've searched this site and scoured the net for guidance and instructions on reinstalling the spring and reassembling the KS mechanism. I found a couple of threads on here with some general guidance on how to do it. I know how to reassemble and rewind the KS mechanism on 81+ bikes (thanks to the Huskydoggg video), but I have no experience doing this on pre-81 bikes.

So....

Does anyone have a copy of a pre-81 shop manual that shows how to reinstall/reassemble the KS spring mechanism? If so, could you post a copy of the shop instructions, please? I spoke with Joe Chodnocki, and he provided me with some good insight on how to reassemble it. However, it would still be even more helpful if I could see a shop manual copy of the instructions, just to get me in the ballpark. Thank you!
