  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Zip-ty "y"

MOTORHEAD

Husqvarna
Pro Class
Got a few new parts from ZIP-TY Racing. Thought I'd show you the "Y" pipe.

BTW- This is totally a one-off here. I'm sure he'll have one ready for sale before long.

Motorhead, some other additional info, one of our ride crew just ordered some triple trees from Zip-Ty for his Yamaha WR, and he asked about Husky stuff .

He said the mech/tech told him that they are all ready using and experimenting with different suspension link lengths,,,so the Husky trickle down tech has begun!!

He also mentioned the Showa thing coming to dealer near you for '10.

Very Cool

What does it look like through the holes? Is there much restriction? I made one for a friend of mine but it was a "T". It was a pain to machine out of billet alum. but I did it. I also made one in 2 pieces that he could weld but it was also very time consuming to machine. This one looks very nice!

Yeah, machining a "T" must have been fun. My hat's off to you.

A "Y" from billet would be a lot of work.

It's pretty clean inside. They did a great job welding it up. I set it up this way so there is nothing over the valve cover. The OE hose does a double 90 over the front of the cover, making it a little hard to get off. With this and some re-routing of wires I was able to clear almost everything from over the cover.

I'm sure it's very nice but I think I would prefer one of Uptites one piece castings.

Ditto, I just finally got around to putting mine on. He still has a bunch too.

rancher1 Is there really a need to reinvent the Y ? Uptites is reasonable, works great, and already exists.

I agree but its buisness. It will obviously get better or worse depending on how you look at it.

Better because as the Husky gets more attention, more shops will start making more aftermarket parts.

Worse (imo) because those that have supported the Husky in its not so popular days will probably get their parts duplicated.

Those shops that are not familiar with Husky problems that want to get into it because of its popularity, will most likely look at what parts are available already and why. "Oh i see some huskys have overheating problems. what is the fix? Oh UP-TITE sells something. Ill make that in my shop also. What else can i make that other shops are to get in on this?" Thats what it sounds like.

For me, I will be supporting the few that were there when i came into Huskys, (a few years now) with support, parts and knowledge. Then if they dont have it, i will venture out. Plus the knowledge that these shop owners have provided to alot over the years has been first rate and personal. You will not see that when Husky gets more popular. Not to mention they actually ride the bike that they support. Not a hit on them but i would trust a shop that rides the bike they build parts for before a shop that mass produces parts for Husky but rides Jap bikes.

Like i said, Its just my opinion. Im not bagging on the upcoming aftermarket parts suppliers and producers. I just remember who was there for me.

When i made the switch, it was nice having the best bike. Now its getting out.

Nice part though MOTORHEAD. It looks sweet.

He has them. I bought one yesterday

He has axle nuts to replace the large hex.
Pipes for most huskys. Very high performance and strong hangers.
LED Headlights, plug and play. One bright, one REAL bright (think desert)
Oil Fill caps for some models that leaked
Throttle tubes
Carb Vent tubes and filters
Skid plates for most all huskys
Mid pipe heat shields
A kit fix for the weak FI red plastic connectors.
Parts to do power up.
Lots of little fixes for significant issues on bikes. These you find out about when you stop in and visit.
Parts for fitment of Stabilizers on IMS tank bikes.

Probably more, just haven't seen all the stuff.
