• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Yikes! Tore off my brake line!

I have NEVER done this no matter how hard I have thrashed a bike - but somehow I managed to rip off the rear brake line from my 449 on Saturday. The weekend wasn't a total loss...I still got 81 miles in, but the rest of my team got the full 200 (or 178 to be exact)!

Terrain was nothing unusual - didn't have any get-offs. Something must have grabbed hold hard-

We searched high and low - but no one had a spare and any attempts at repair failed. It was stupid to go out with zero back brake so I logged some hotel time and caught up on sleep and a good book under a nice shade tree. Could be worse.

Had I blown up something major I believe I would have been less upset - the brake hose was literally a $35 part. A local legend had a older Husky and we tried it, but the bends were just too far off and it put the coil hard against the midpipe.

Maybe it is not as odd as I thought, but it has to be a bit on the crazy side as 0/100 dirtbikers had a spare!

Yep, Sometimes you eat the bear, and sometimes, well, he eats you ...

Not sure on the terrain, but I'd have slowed down and rode without it or at least tried ... You can learn to ride the bike using the other controls and when you get the brake fixed, you just might be a better rider ... I do like the idea of more sleep as I'm sure I need more.

Rode across 4 islands here once without a front brake .. A front brake is really really needed for emergency stopping and downhills ... Other than that, you can ride a dirt all day at a slower pace but you gotta be ready.

PS - I like the new fangled 4t bikes with 2 throttle cables ... Its like a built in spare :)
