• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Yet another great day in the dez.

Made the trek to central Oregon again sunday to ride the Dez. Found a bunch of great stuff and several trails I had not tried, good ones too. 5 in the group this weekend. Ripping it up good, lots of variety and no crashes. Real fun day.

Adjusted the 511 for some dez (slower steering / stiffer suspension) and it once again rocked. Fast and fun.

prepped and ready for battle

Give a shout out next time you head over

They are having some issues with the website. The last newsletter only went out to the email list.

There were times in the past when we rode up into GPNF early in the year (~July\AUG)and saw where the snow level was at and when we returned back down, we would inform the rangers the snow had receded and they needed to open the gates so we could access some areas ...

That's a cement dam? Its color sure fits in well with its surroundings ... Looks almost like rock or dirt from a distance ...

Yes indeed.

For anyone coming over this weekend we had some rain this week and should be epic conditions.

Tempted as I have a new to me 83 XC500 to try out but the weather here is supposed to be nice saturday so will probably just ride the coast range.

There are crews of us logging the trails out months before that now. We head up the minute you can gain access up there and start the yearly work. Big thanks to buddies Rollie and Jake who do a ton of work up there every year and have thier saw mounts on for 4-5 months a year.

Friend of mine from Bend was riding China Hat this weekend and had a head on with a guy from Aberdeen Wa. Both had non life threatening injury's but were taken to the hospital. Not sure of the details or the damage. Be safe out there.

Both myself, Brandon and Ryan all had head ons out there a few years ago resulting in hospital time. Thats why I like to ride there on week days. 4 corners is not quite as bad as far fewer trees. Less fun too though.

4 corners is even higher speeds. Although there all fast in central Oregon. I found out some more info. My friend has a concussion, six stitches in his chin and a swollen hand. The other guy has a broken Femur. It sheared his steering stem right off and crushed his exhaust. I bet there is even more damage yet discovered.

ouch, speedy recovery to your friend. Will spare you the details of our crashes.
