  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

250-500cc wr300 vs WR360

I've always been a 4 stroke guy and I've owned a ton of huskys and still do, but I ran a 05 WR250 with a 6 speed for Ice racing last year and it was just under powered for my liking. Ice racing is a HP game. This year I ran my 2013 TC449. I was debating giving a 2 stroke another try. Anyone have any opinions on an old WR360 engine vs a WR300 engine? I would probably need to update everything to get a older WR360 to make it handle well but I'm curious how the power is on those vs. a newer WR300 with some mods? Let me know what you guys think. Thanks!

rumored to have no top end all low/mid but of course could be ported differently. You should source a CR/KX 500 for ice racing. :D

My '92 has gobs of power everywhere...it's got top end if you've got enough balls to ring it out. It doesn't rev quickly really, but it does rev. For the obscene power it has, it's very tractable.

The later ones '99-'02, I guess had much different porting, were difficult to start, and were tractors, but not much up top. Not to say one of those ported to match a '92-'93 (supposedly the wildest of the bunch) wouldn't be a beast out there. The piston does weigh about twice what the 250's does, so take that into account with the revving.

The 300 definitely has more down low than the 250. Up top, the 250 revs quicker, but I think they're probably on the same level up top, 300 having a slight edge possibly.

If you do either, I highly recommend the Lectron 38mm carb on both. My 300 didn't like revs until I switched to that, and it went on the 360 when I was running it. Makes a big difference.

cool guys thanks for the input. Yeah a CR500 in a new AL from would be the easy thing to do. My friends ride those and they are fun but I found a mint 99 WR360 for really cheap and was thinking about trying it out.
