  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

So I just picked up a rekluse from a fellow member and rushed home to put it in. I removed my clutch cover and to my surprise I found what looks like gray paint where my oil should be. Googled the situation and also asked a fellow member to see if this is normal. Coolant level was low so I'm thinking that's the cause. Member told me that it's a common issue for the water pump impeller seal to leak. What coolant it had in it is oil free. My question is while I have this apart should I replace anything else that's a common issue? I want the bike to be 110% when I take it out next.

Also if anyone had any gaskets for this situation I'd be more then happy to pick them up off you.
Looks like I would need :
Impeller seal
Impeller o ring
Impeller spacer
Engine case gasket
Clutch cover gasket

Thanks for the help in advance guys! Pics to come soon

That's water or coolant in the Oil, I had the same problem... Thought that the problem was the impeller seal but as it seems it was not, the little plastic 'L' from the crankcase breather hose was.. I sealed it well with some joint-former and now I have much less moisture in, still a little milky, I think I need to re-route that breather hose as I sometimes cross rivers above that plastic 'L' and moisture could get in.. I plan to route that hose over to the gas tank or something like that...

Regards.

WRs will do that if you cross peg deep water with a warm engine. the water rapidly cools the engine cases and the trans vent will suck creek water using the vent hose like a straw. You can reroute the vent hose to a higher location to avoid this. If you're not losing radiator fluid then change the oil and don't worry about it.
