  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

250-500cc WR250 Shock option

I have a 1999 WR250 that I have been "refurbishing" front to back. My rear shock is in need of a rebuild. I am considering installing a newer / updated shock. I'm wondering if the Sachs shock from an 2007 to 2010 TC or TE 250 would work on here? Does anyone know? The shock certainly looks like it will fit, but I don't have one to try. I'd hate to spend $200 on a shock and then find out it doesn't fit. Help!

Had to replace the shock on my '99-used one from a '05 [i think] TE450
a few mm longer but the bike still is stable wide open in 6th gear

I don't think that the 2010 TC 250 shock will work. The reservoir is rotated forward instead of sitting in line with the top shock mount position.

Where are you located? I have a new 2005 TE 450 shock with no spring that I would sell for $125.00 plus shipping. I was always going to use it for a '07 WR 250. I say the shock is new because it has no dirt or wear, it could have been used for a brief time but I doubt it. it could be a few mm's different in total length, don't know.
