  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

250-500cc wr250 jetting at 500ft

I am looking for recommendations. My bike is jetted really well at a 3500' elevation. It came that way when I bought it. I am racing this weekend at 500' in elkton, OR. Will a larger pilot jet, or turning the fuel screw in work? I don't want to blow up or have pinging.

Kind of hard to give you a recommendation without knowing your current settings. Plus how hot is it going to be? Provided your bike is running good now and the temps are going to be the same, I would start at one size larger main and raise your needle one clip. Unless your air screw is already only a half a turn open, you should be able to run the same pilot and turn your air screw in a half or one turn.

Hello! It seems like the 250 and 300 use almost identical jettings. What carb du you have and what´s in it now? Temp?

Johnny

What's in it now ? Did the 35 pilot and richer needle get put in the bike ?
I had a 30 pilot 400 main, 4.0 slide and the 61 needle in my bike before putting the JD kit in it, now I have the JD kit with a 390 main and the 4.0 slide

You're probably in bed by now, but I ride both sides of the mountain, and the jetting I use here works fine over there. Keep in mind that Millican Plateu, EFR and the like is more open that the Big K, and you won't have the sustained high rpm wide open throttle here. I think you'll be plenty safe at the Funky Chicken.
